Tuesday will soon be here, and it will be bloody.
You thought Florida 2000 was a debacle? You ain't see nothing yet.
That was a cake walk.
Here's a prediction, and you can take this to the bank and cash it. Dean will be accused of having bussed in supporters from out of state, of having people take loopholes so as to claim residency for at least a day so as to take part in the caucuse. There are already rumors that Deans supporters are recruiting 17 year old high school kids due to a law that says they can take part in the caucuse as long as they can vote on election day in Novemeber. Source, US news and world report.
High School kids being recruited is not traditionaly done. Gephardt will get nice and bloody too, his guys, will be accused of bringing in outsiders also, not to mention claims of intimidation, forced pressure and threats of violence.
In at least one place, a fight will break out. Both sides will scream that the other cheated, no matter who wins. Even Kerry will be joined in the fray by default of association. Only Clark and Edwards and Leiberman will walk away unscathed, and Clark only because he's not there.
All the canidates will deny they had anything to due with it, thus looking like there campaigns are either out of control, or they themselves are lying, and all the while, still blaming the other guys.
Then it gets worse, Dean will win New Hampshire, but the feuding will not stop, the accusations will keep being hurled, and this will be a huge news story that will leave the nation horrified.
The democratic party will look childish, corrupt, conniving, sneaky, and most of all, full of thugs, kooks, and cheats, or on just the minimum dishonest overzealous leftists. They will be fractured, wounded, and plump for November. Hillary Clinton won't go anywhere near this mess, less, it destroys whatever image she wants. This is going to get so ugly, that anyone near it, will be stained.

This is both a prediction and a prophesy. Freepers, feedback. This "election" is not just all dems, but the heart of the rat pack. The activists, the bleeders, the nuts, and all the lefty's.
I haven't even mentioned Sharpton, somehow, someway, managing to bring race into this.
Let the slaughter begin.

I had lunch with a self-described "extreme liberal Democrat" today. He said he's in despair - Bush is unbeatable. I mentioned Dean, Lieberman, Kerry, Gephardt - he dismissed them all. And it's already too late for Hillary Clinton to swoop in and "save the party". They are toast.

I dunno Sonny. I know a lot of these people really well. They can throw a left hook, knock somebody on their butt and when it's all over they pick each other up and go out for drinks with their arms around each other's shoulders.
Those Dims do not hold grudges over Primary and Caucus votes. I've seen it happen before.
By Tuesday night, they will all be at the Union Hall, in front of the TV, booing GWB when he makes the SOTU address. That's my prediction.

I don't think it will be close enough for anyone to really get bent out of shape. I think Dean will win with a sufficient margin to make it look legit. Besides, the news media is going to keep a lid on the funny business. They don't want their friends in the Democratic party to be too embarrased. Not everyone gets their news from Drudge.
To: Sonny M
Unlikely in all but the largest areas in Iowa, and unlikely even then...the Dems that go to caucuses here are the hard core party activists - they all know one another...inbreeding in a political sense. Caucuses are held at the precinct level - as in neighborhoods - an outsider trying to horn in would stick out like Jesse Jackson at a KKK rally, and be about as welcome.

Actually, Prairie, I think it's pretty darned GOOD timing. This way the Dims will have Tuesday as a news day, and GWB draw attention away from them with his speech and take them out of the news. At least I hope that's how it will work.

What the hell is a caucuse? I read that, and became totally cornfused.
I guess it has to do with Iowa, where corn is, and fusion.
I was unaware of fusion in Iowa, only corn.
And a caucuse, which hopefully controls the fusion of corn in Iowa.

I hope so too. At first I was thinking a day or two between the events would be good. Maybe this will work as you suggest.

That was on C-SPAN, I saw it, Dean was recruiting and explaining that to teenagers coming up to him.
