This stuff is getting out of control Yes, it is. Smokers seem to have this insane need to assert that it is their right to bother other people with their fumes. And in this particular case, the smoker seems to think that her right to smoke is more important that the (apparently real) harm it causes the neighbor.
Sorry, I just can't work up any sympathy for a group of folks who insists on doing stupid things to their own bodies, and in so doing makes things unpleasant for the rest of us, too.

And I have no sympathy for an anal retentive busybody like you who bleeds for someone complaining about it outdoors.

She's not going into his home and smoking, and I don't think he owns the air around her home. My take on this thing is that he's a pervert, and probably a stalker.

Yeah, smokers have that insane need to be able to smoke on their own property. The nerve of them!

I can see objecting to smoking in Apts where smoke gets in the hallways and stinks up the Apts of non-smokers...but outside?
Unless this woman is smoking within 10 feet of the neighbor's house and the smoke is coming into his house I think this is ridiculous.
By the way I smoked for 30 years and quit over 4 years ago. Only recently I've found that the smell of smoke bothers me in closed in places.

You don't see the flaw in their argument???? Seriously?
Did you notice the emphasis the professor puts on his pets? Why is that?
Think it through. This is a con.

And in this particular case, the smoker seems to think that her right to smoke is more important that the (apparently real) harm it causes the neighbor. The lady is smoking outside of the condo. If this fellow and his wife are that sensitive, they'd be walking around with respirators on 100% of the time.
Sorry, I just can't work up any sympathy for a group of folks who insists on doing stupid things to their own bodies, and in so doing makes things unpleasant for the rest of us, too.
If the fact that the lady is smoking outside doesn't please these folks, nothing will please them until she stands on the center line of the adjoining highway to smoke.
If you run an air quality test in these complaienrs' condo before, during and after this lady's smoking outside, you would find there is no difference. This is PC piling on, plain and simple.
It does not surprise me that the bitcher used to work in academia.

If it's all you say it is, then it should be made illegal. Until such time, folks of your ilk need to shut your collective cakehole.

That's just how I feel about people who brush their hair or use cell phones while they drive. Or any other activity that takes their attention from the road. I think permanent and irrevocable loss of driving privileges is in order for such selfishness.

Smokers are the most selfish people on the planet. This thread will be covered with people who think they have the right to make other people inhale a substance that is proven to be harmful to your health. There will even be some idiots who will claim that cigarette smoke is not harmful at all because of some anectdotal evidence they have grasped onto to justify it.

I just want you and your crowd to keep your nose out of my business. If, a person can't go outside and smoke, that's when you A holes are going too far. Excuse my language.

Smokers seem to have this insane need to assert that it is their right to bother other people with their fumes. Do you drive a car? If so, I want you to stop. The exhaust from your tailpipe bothers me.
Do you ever take flights in commercial airliners? If so, I want you to stop. The plumes of thick black exhaust falling on my house bother me.
I'm sorry, but I can't feel sorry for people that want to do so much harm to someone else's body - especially when they can not see that their smoke is every bit as bad as anyone else's.

Sorry, I just can't work up any sympathy for a group of folks
Hey, I've been accomodating you and your ilk for the past 15 or so years. You didnt want me in your airplane section so you forced us to move to the back.
then you decided you didn't want us smoking on the plane so you banned us to the terminals. Then you decided you didn't want us smoking in the terminals so you forced us outside. Now you don't even want us outside!
As for businesses, you didn't want us smoking in the common areas so you made us smoke in our offices only.
Then you decided that our private offices still offended you so you made us move to a designated smoking area.
Then you decided that that area was still offensive to you so you forced us outside.
As far as i can tell pal, we smokers have accomodated you assholes every turn of the way!
So, let this be a warning to you: The next smoker you may encounter outside your own private smoke-free establishment may be me. And if you so much as open your mouth about my smoking, you will end up drinking your steaks thru a straw for the next 6 months!
I have had it with you nazis!
