"However, he is not well known statewide and will have little money to take on a likely well funded Herseth."

The NRCC will give him plenty of money and some visits from Bush, Cheney, and Guiliani will fix his Name ID problem.

Wasn't Janklow part of the problem to start with in the 2002 race? Diedrich seems baggage-free.

Yeah Lead foot had baggage.

A sizable part of GOP voters didn't support him because he sabotaged Abdnor in order to get Daschle elected.

I can agree to a point, however I also recognize that if Herseth gets her foot in the door, by winning this election, she will be embedded in office in this state for generations. Daschle will not linger much further than 6 years, but this gal is 30. She's just getting started. She must be defeated.

Larry Deidrich is a decent guy, but does he have any kind of name I.D.?

With the amount of free media for this race, I doubt name ID will be a problem.

Yes, if we can Herseth to lose again...she will be a two-time loser. That is near fatal with federal candidates. But hey, she could be like my Congresscritter Jay Inslee and when she loses two consecutive elections move to another part of the state, "redefine" oneself and run and win. She couldn't run to another congressional district in SD, but ND only has about 20 people in the state so it wouldn't be hard for her to redefine herself up north. (Not like I would wish her upon our ND friends)

I agree.

A second loss for the little liberal princess will bury her. Conversely, if she wins she'll burrow into the South Dakota body politic like a tick and stay there.

We must stop her now.

It sounds that Herseth could become the "Mary Landrieu of SD." A permanent fixture

Exactly, which is why she needs to be stopped before she gets embedded. SoDaks are too nice, and have a hard time firing bad congress critters.

Thanks, My candidate WON!! I back him 100 % and we all must unite and fight for retaining the seat. We must fight to insure that all republicans vote republican. People need to read between the lines and look at the votes, not just listen to the news and read the media. They need to extend outside of their state and get anothers point of view. Sometimes other states newspapers and/or tv, say it or print it like it really is. imho

Does Thune have an official web site yet? Meanwhile, I'll read this thread and put Diedrich's url under prairie states (developing at my tag line). Thanks for the ping.
