Bush Did His Service: It's the Press that is A.W.O.L.
Oregon Magazine ^ | February 11, 2004 | Thomas Lipscomb

Posted on 02/11/2004 4:29:03 PM PST by WaterDragon

President George W. Bush....asked to appear on the Russert show in a clear attempt to stem the damage from these charges. For over a week they were endlessly repeated and never analyzed by the news media.

But the only basis for these charges was summarized by the London Sunday Telegraph on February 8 “If the Vietnam veteran John Kerry becomes the next President, there will be one man to thank above all others: retired Brigadier General William Turnipseed.”

It all started with a report questioning Bush’s National Guard service during the Presidential election in 2000 by The Boston Globe.

Walter Robinson, the only Pulitzer Prize winning reporter to ever be successfully sued for libel, cited retired Brigadier General William Turnipseed of the Alabama Air National Guard as his source.

But in an interview General Turnipseed stated that Robinson’s reporting of their conversation was either distorted or based upon his misunderstanding of how the military functioned at the time of Bush’s Guard service.

For Bush to be “AWOL” or “Away Without Leave” he had to have been assigned to a unit and under its command. If Bush was not under Turnipseed’s command whatever he might have said to Robinson has no more authority than the opinions of any other Alabama National Guardsman that might have served with Bush at the time....(Snip)

If the Democrats wish to revive the Vietnam War and fight it all over again well, then I could not be more delighted.

Kerry and the press do not appreciate that no matter what Kerry does he can't "win" or "earn" the presidency. He and they are simply observers, along for the ride.

The presidency is Bush's to loose.

I caught the idiocy questioning session on C-SPAN last night by the muddy minded media and all they did was prove:

They have an agenda
They have NEVER served in Active/Reserve/Guard
They are too damn lazy to talk to the NG Bureau to find out about alternate drills and the rules for making up missed drills
Never talked to the AF to find out that pilots in the NG or Res drill in the month if they can when they can get fight time and sometimes will have to do more than one months drill in a single month
Looked at GW's DD214
Grasped in their feeble minds that if you get paid you HAD to have credit for that months drill
Don't understand that including the "2 week summer encampment" the NG has only 39 days to do what the actives do in 200
Alternate drills may be administrative type functions.

Bottom line they have an agenda and are lazy ignorant bums with no desire to learn the actual facts.

The Democratic party is relying heavily on the liberal media to control what the American people hear and read about this.....that headline has it right...the Press is A.W.O.L.

Well, too bad.
I was busy today printing all the stories about Kerry and the Judicial memos so I can pass them around and share them with all my Union, Senior Citizen, and Veteran friends who aren't wired.

Today was a good day.

David Gregory on Hardball just indicated the story will never go away, they'll pursue it the rest of the campaign.

I agree, but they are forgetting that more and more people are getting their news from alternate sources (e.g. internet, talk radio, Fox News, etc.).

Kerry's sick minded Viet Nam ploy is a feeble attempt to distract voters from the issues that matter today, like our War on Terror, and deter us from his utter lack of any sort of reason to tell us why we should vote for him.

Who gives a rat's arse about what happened or did not happen 30 years ago? We can't change the outcome. What good will bringing up old wounds do other than to remind us of the terrible upheaval our country went through. We didn't have a strong leader in the White House. We didn't have the will to fight to win. Our brave and courageous soldiers bleed, lost limbs, lost their youth and died in Viet Nam, for what?

The damn Viet Nam war was a disgrace because of the democrats, the mainstream press and the left. They shunned and spit on our brave young soldiers who were sent to risk their lives for a war that none of our soft palmed and pampered senators wanted anything to do with.

I despise that period of time. I despise the scum filth hippies and their anti-war demonstrations. They never gave us the support to win, to be victorious.

The left sided with the commies and I'm thinking they still do, just look and hear how they bemoan an evil sadistic dictator's downfall and cry about how mean Bush is to the terrorists.

What is even more hyper-hypocritical of the democrats and the press is that they all got on their knee-pads and supported the draft-dodging loather of the military, Bill Clinton, who wrote that he thought he was too good to fight for the United States of America.

Viet Nam is over. Gonzo. Finni. al Qaeda is now. President Bush is a very determined, resolved, steadfast leader who has the will to see us to Victory!!!, not despair.

What Dubya and the Repubs really need to do is bring in people who saw him doing his service. The commies keep barking that "where are all the people who can vouch that he did his service?" Put these people on primetime and the leftists will... ok so they'll just spin and lie "oh he blackmailed them into coming. But who cares about them. With this presentation, more moderates and veterans and soldiers will go "He did serve." This puts our Prez in a favorable light, dispute lies, and get more votes.

On a more personal note, Dubya is more of a hero than Kerry. Everyone who defends our country is a hero. If KErry wasn't a dumbocrat commie ahole, he'd be a hero too.

I don't think Kerry should get ANY credit for his service in Viet Nam because of his actions when he came home, actions that put our troops over there in danger, helping the enemy!
