Poll: Bush 47% Kerry 45%

RasmussenReports.com February 13, 2004--President George W. Bush continues to hold a very narrow lead over Massachusetts Senator John F. Kerry in the latest Rasmussen Reports Presidential Election Survey. Bush is the pick for 47% of likely voters while Kerry is the choice of 45%.

Over the previous six days, the candidates have been one-point apart or tied. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.

The Rasmussen Reports Presidential Election Survey is updated daily by noon Eastern.

The electorate that Bush and Kerry are trying to reach has a generally positive view of American society. Sixty percent (60%) of likely voters say that our nation is generally fair and decent.

Let me bottom line it for everyone here: I don't need to worry about sample sizes, registered voters, likely voters, whatever. The final poll (the election) will be 50% Bush 50% Dem Nominee. There is, of course, a +/-3% margin of error. I guarantee it.

Simply put, we know the raw vote tally will be close. But thanks to election '00, we also know the raw vote tally doesn't mean jack. It's all about electoral votes, so state by state polling may help give us a snapshot of how things are going, but these national polls are worthless.

I think the election won't be all that close on the popular side, but obviously Bush and his campaign think it will be. He's calmly and quietly taken step by step to build the electoral votes, especially in California. He'll win Florida and Texas, and the other big four are Cal and NY. He's got a good chance in California, and even has some chance in NY.

Overall, the Electoral College will look very good for him, particularly after the Dim nominee has had the h*** kicked out of him by his (or her) opponents, the media, and the Bush campaign.

Bravo for Drudge by the way... he broke the "dress" story which was about to be suppressed, was roundly condemned for it, and the dress itself was denied for months (including by the partisan media shills) until it reemerged. Clinton should not have been hanged for adultery, but for his high treason, obstruction of justice, rape, and a few other odds and ends.
