Wanted: Preferably Dead $0.01

As you have noticed, there has been an increased level of "troll traffic" at FR, so I have decided to make lemonade out of lemons and placed a $0.01 USD reward out for every Troll ZOT!ed at Free Republic. The contribution to the Bush re-elecion campaign, Republican candidates, and the RNC will be based on the total number of ZOT!ed Tolled blasted away between 2/16/2004 and Election Day. The AdminMods are highly effective in what they do so the final total could be a rather large sum.
If you are wondering why I'm only contributing $0.01 per ZOT!, ask yourself this - are trolls really worth more than a penny each? Trolls are vastly overvalued as it stands right now 8^)
Trolls think they can come to Free Republic and try crash our party - they are wrong. We're planning to turn the tables on them and going to use their numbers against them to help conservative candidates. We would appreciate your support by freep-mailing me that you want to be on the ZOT!List or want to help in other ways.

Here's how it works:
1. If you recieved this ping, you're on the ZOT! list and will receive notice of the impending doom of a Troll. This could be a high-volume list so please let me know if you want to stay on this list or know of others who want to join up.
2. I am keeping a running total of all trolls ZOT!ed from FR each day and at the end of each month between now and the Presidential election, I will make a contribution to the Bush campaign equal to one penny per troll.
3. If by the grace of God I hit the FEC contribution limit because of one penny per Troll, I will continue this plan making a similar contribution to the Republican Senate canidate in my state. This process will continue on down to dog-catcher.
4. If you desire to place a matching Bounty on Trolls, I will add you to a seperate ping list called VKPac and keep you up-to-date of the funds raised on the smoking hulks of Trolls.
5. Those who wish to place a matching Bounty must be legally enabled to make normal campaign contributions per FEC laws. Viking Kitties don't want no Charlie Trie-type action goin' on around these parts.
6. Last but not least, when some poster left a stink in thread tell a AdminMod. Only they have the power of ZOT!

Your tag line is the real reason why liberals and the left don't want our kids saying the pledge of allegiance, (to them the god thing is just an excuse an means to an end), our kids just might learn the truth and reality.

There are one or two individuals who, for whatever reason, enjoy signing up new accounts here every single day to post leftist drivel. Sometimes they are vanities from DemocraticUnderground. Sometimes they are articles from other far-left sources. Sometimes they are nothing but vile doctored images or profanity laced tirades. Sometimes they are from legitimate sources but happen to strike the eye of the poster as being something that would infuriate conservatives.The posters in question always post the articles, and then don't reply. They then post other articles, again not replying. This was going on for months. Jim would confirm by looking at the IP addresses and other aspects of the user's 'footprint' that it was the returning troll, and we would nuke the accounts. This went on for months.
Then some of the opportunists who wanted to harm the forum started a whispering campaign, complaining about articles being deleted. They would play off of the fact that the trolls' articles were being pulled to complain that there was some sort of agenda of squelching legitimate conservative postings going on by the moderators.
One day I decided to try something new. I decided, instead of letting the trolls get what they want and have their posts up as flame bait, and instead of pulling the threads outright, I would move their post aside and replace it with something that hopefully others would find humorous. I would do this out in the forum for all to see. The original piece would be available through the history link for the curious, who could see if there was some sort of censorship campaign going on. And the freepers could have fun mocking the troll if they so liked.
It so happens that the way I did it the first time was using a screen shot from Caddyshack, where the pastor gets hit by a lightning bolt. Being a bit of a fan of the comic strip "B.C." I captioned the photo with the lightning bolt sound that Johnny Hart used in his strip- ZOT! That is where the term Zot originated.
Now, sometimes we "zot", and sometimes we simply pull it. It depends on a number of factors, including how busy we are at the time. But whenever you see a Zot, you can be sure that the user was a 'newbie' who was doing their hit-and-run posting, and that if you as a well-established freeper thought the article would have made an interesting discussion, then you could probably post the same piece yourself without incident (although the most vile of the stuff probably would get pulled, and Jim reserves the right to remove anyone who he feels is constantly trying to push leftist propaganda on the forum). Anyway, that is the history and background behind zotting.
For one or two individuals to keep trolling around FR and putting themselves up for such ridicule, there must a strange pathology there, don't you think?
