Larry Klayman the former head of government watchdog Judicial Watch and current U.S. Senate candidate from Florida, who has been critical of the feds over security issues was reportedly detained and handcuffed at a Washington airport after joking about a bomb.
Larry Klayman |
The Washington Post reports Klayman approached a metal detector at Reagan National Airport last fall and announced the cat container he was carrying was not a bomb.
According to another waiting passenger nearby, Klayman told the screeners the cat wasn't a terrorist and didn't have a bomb. The comment resulted in security personnel taken out of line and handcuffing the activist. The paper reports Klayman was taken to another location for questioning and was forced to take a later flight to his destination, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
"It wasn't a funny joke," Klayman told the Post. "I apologized for it. I support what the TSA is doing, and I should have been more sensitive. I was tired, and it was the end of the day."

I, for one, would feel a lot safer with security guards that could think. I just had a bad experience with them myself. My husband and I took our boys to the metal detectors and sent them through. We were not flying with them but stood off to the side and back some to watch and make sure they got their stuff and went where they needed to go. Security didn't like this. They told us to move so we did. We moved back another 15' and continued to watch are kids who seemed to be having trouble. Now an armed guard told us to leave. We had explained to both security people what we were doing but having no brains and following some arbitrary rule, they still made us leave.
Luckily our kids have more brains than the security people and did manage to get where they needed to be.

We leave our borders wide open, allow people to immigrate from terrorist states, allow shipping containers and trucking cargo to enter our nation about 98.5% uninspected, but damn, you citizens better straighten out and fly right.
Under Clinton up was down, wrong was right, evil and no morals at all were just some things that everybody did, and nobody was perfect.
In some regards things have remained the same. Our leadership is still out of touch on a number of issues and we are as vulnerable at home as we ever were.
Of one thing I am sure. If our government intelligence agencies screw up again, if NASA kills yet another flight crew or some illegal immigrant does perpetrate a terrible act of terrorism, it will have been unforseeable, no heads will roll, it will not be a time when we should find fault or place guilt.
The more things change...

I am beginning to appreciate the value of being an old fart. As I watch my country slide into some dark Orwellian nightmare, I at least have memories of what it was like to live in a free country. Imagine: we used to associate having armed goons running around saying "Your papers, please" with Nazi Germany and Stalinist Russia. Now we have all of that stuff here, and the frog just sits in the pot while the water slowly gets hotter and hotter.
"I apologized for it. I support what the TSA is doing, and I should have been more sensitive.
Anybody around here remember Larry Klayman? I don't mean the Pod Person quoted in this article, I mean the real one. The real one would have sued these guys six time already, and their mothers, too. Now he's worried about being "insensitive." I bet the Dixie Mafia abducted him and shot him full of Clinton juice. |

Imagine someone saying, "It's a cat carrying case, not a bomb."
Why I'd string the guy up!!!!
One thing is abundantly clear. When you raise the pay from $8.00 per hour to $15.00 per hour, you certainly get a higher class of idiot. None the less, you still get an idiot.
Perhaps the best outcome of all these hyper-sensitive B.S. programs is that we can be sure that our eight year olds will not be able to take a plastic (under one inch) GI Joe gun to school as potential terrorists cross our frontier at will.
No I take that back. The best outcome was the large databases being built on John and Jane Doe so that we know about her mole on her left butt cheek, but haven't a clue who the 2500 unnamed illegal immigrants were that crossed our border yesterday, today, and every day in the forseeable future.

I resented taking off my two-year-old g-daughter's shoes so they could inspect each one. Like I would blow her up.

Don't blame the lowly TSA people. They are given clear, concise instructions that ANYONE who jokes about bombs, etc. gets arrested and questioned, NO EXCEPTIONS.
A seasoned traveler like Klayman should know this. What an idiot.

No, not Clinton juice. IMHO the difference is that now he's running for political office. Which makes his remark doubly stupid!

He must have been wearing his Muslim head scarf, robe, and fuzzy fake beard that day. He looks very Middle Eastern [irony].

"Pod Person" hardly begins to describe it. Some "public interest firm." More like HUCKSTERS.TOO true
the Don and Terry Adam's case I think proves once and for all that Judicial Watch is a sham ..... Klayman and Co. give lawyers a bad name
Have they ever won anything other than our donations?
I have heard that also Lt. Commander Jack Daily suffered more under Judicial Watch than under Russian lasers
I hope someone does an investigative piece exposing these opportunistic headline / ambulance / donation chasers for what they are
Inept frauds who take advantage of people who have been beaten by the lib-dem machine only to be taken advantage of by these hucksters
I think their purpose is to capture the confidence of people in these positions and keep them distracted with inept lawyering until they have squeezed the life (and every donation dollar) out of themLook at JW's client list and tell me one that does not fit this scenario
Klayman and Co. are like Jessie Jackson or Al Sharpton with law degrees.

One of my cherished memories from the Good Old Days involves waiting at the checkin counter for a wee-hours delayed Braniff DC-7 flight. There was a young lady with a Mexican bag and a guitar swinging from her shoulders. She pulled a Bowie knife and a chunk of wood from the bag and started hacking away at the wood. "This is my Hostility Block", she explained. Some of the crowd appeared a bit uneasy, but the two "stewardesses" just took it in stride. No evidence of Air Rage among any other passengers that night.

I was truly incensed when they took the wand and ran it back and forth between by son's legs, in what appeared to be the witch with a capital B using the wand to molest my 5 month old son. As if he could have a bomb in his diaper. I finally blew a gasket and told her, "If you want to find out what's in his diaper so bad, I'll take it off and you can see for yourself." She blushed and backed down. I'm sure now that they're federal employees, I'd have been arrested. They made my wife get out of her wheelchair for God's sake, and wouldn't let me help her stand up. I may be passed something. But, the 4 ME guys talking loudly in what sounded like Arabic weren't even glanced at twice.
