February 28, 2004 -- The absurdity of the International Court of Justice's three-day hearing this past week in The Hague on the legality of Israel's security fence was summed up succinctly by former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: "It is not the killers and their dispatchers who are put on trial - it is the victims." That reversal speaks volumes as to why genuine peace in the Middle East remains elusive.

What strikes me is how mainstream media has apparently agreed to refer to this wall as a "fence", or a "barrier". These words do not have the negative associations which the word "wall" has. Yet it is a wall, a huge wall, and it is significant that the media won't refer to it as such.

Perhaps - I'm more cynical and can only believe that the media either hasn't grasped the full significance or is holding it back for when it feels the need to incite folks.

After all, peace would not make on-going headlines the way all the carnage does.

The book below has plenty about the crimes of Haj Amin el Husseini, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, who conducted a somewhat inefficient mass murder campaign against Jewish farmers in the region, urged Hitler to expand his Final Solution to the Middle Eastern Jews, helped engineer the entry of Iraq into WWII on the side of the Axis, and when he had to flee Baghdad, spent most of the rest of the war in German occupied territory. He was never prosecuted for war crimes (no doubt due in part to the ass-kissing that went on in European countries eager to regain their colonial empires), and wound up living in Egypt where he was active in his and many other Arabs' lifelong campaign to exterminate the Jews. His and others' similar efforts no doubt contributed to the foundation of modern Israel.

This book traces the history of Islamicism, the political practice (which began with Mohammed by the way) of killing every non-Moslem in sight and trying to set up totalitarian clericocracy (I had to coin that one ;').

"Red Prince" is a nickname for one of the hideous mass murderers and terrorists that make up the PLO from top to bottom. He was one of the criminals who (among many other crimes) carried out the murder of the Israeli Olympic athletes in 1972. Israel carried out a number of retaliatory assassinations which by 1979 had claimed most of the murderers, including that of the "Red Prince". Here's a quote from pp 108-9 regarding Jordanian military action in the face of the PLO's attempt to overthrow King Hussein:

While the Arab world watched in horror, Syria, the closest ally of the Palestinians and the vilest enemy of Israel decided to... bring Hussein down. A task force of 300 tanks was dispatched...

The Quest for the Red Prince by Michael Bar-Zohar and Eitan Haber

The 300 tank task force wasn't put together ad hoc -- it was part of Syria's connivance to overthrow King Hussein with the help from inside Jordan of the PLO. The author states that Jordan pleaded for help from the United States, which had some significant forces in the eastern Mediterranean, that the US couldn't bring sufficient force to bear in time, and that Kissinger wheedled Israel into helping Jordan.

Fact is, Israel already knew what was going on, and wasn't going to tolerate Syrian intervention. As the book states, Israel moved superior numbers of tanks into the north, moving in broad daylight, with the apparent intention of invading Syria. Israel's air force flew mock runs over the Syrian columns without any Jordanian interference and Syria backed down. That was in and of itself humiliating.

The PLO attempt to assassinate King Hussein -- which is what triggered its expulsion from Jordan -- isn't mentioned in the section. There is an amusing anecdote near the beginning of the chapter -- Fatah guerillas fled Jordan and ran right toward the Israel border checkpoints, begging the Israelis to save them. Naturally they were thrown in prison, but as the author points out, they escaped death. The Jordanian army, as well as the rank and file who had been bullied and victimized by the PLO, attacked the guerillas without mercy and killed at least 7,000 of them. Hey, it was a start.

The campaign to exterminate the PLO's Munich Massacre murderers was directed by the only major Israeli intelligence figure to warn the gov't about the impending invasion in 1973.

Jews barred in Saudi tourist drive

The Saudi tourism department website said tourist visas would not be issued to Israeli passport holders or Jews. Earlier this month, it began a drive to attract more foreign visitors by issuing visas to non-Muslim tourists for the first time. There has not previously been an explicit ban on Jews travelling to Saudi Arabia, though people with Israeli passports or with Israeli stamps in their documents, have not been allowed in... A page on the Supreme Commission for Tourism website originally said visas would not be issued to Israeli passport holders or those with a passport containing an Israeli stamp; "those who don't abide by the Saudi traditions concerning appearance and behaviours"; "those under the influence of alcohol"; or "Jewish people".

Michael Shermer, the slimy arch-skeptic [sic] publisher of one of the (not too f-ckin') skeptical magazines, coauthored a book on Holocaust denial that may be worth a look.

For one thing, it contains the information that it was for the English language edition of a book by the notorious denier Robert Faurisson (called the "Pope of Revisionists"; revisionism means denial) that Noam Chomsky, wrote the preface.

Not surprisingly, Shermer takes the opportunity to equate Holocaust denial with the idea of Precolumbian voyages, UFOs, Forbidden Archaeology, etc, and probably at this point he'd include those who don't accept without reservation the fiction and lies about global warming. So, let's just say I have some reservations about this title.

There are a lot of [characterization deleted]s in the world, and many of them claim that the Holocaust never happened, or more insidiously, that the Holocaust was "exaggerated" (whatever the [bad word] that means). Here's a book of interrogation transcripts taken from Nazis after the war. It is not pleasant reading. I do wonder, in this age of PC, whether the public school system actually teaches about the Holocaust and the stupidity of Holocaust deniers.

Dieter Wisliceny, one of Eichmann's lieutenants, put the number of Jews exterminated at 4,817,700, based on personal recollection and while looking at a table (not reproduced) showing the numbers from this or that country or part of a country. He doesn't mention the Ukraine, where another 500,000 or more were killed by mobile SS units, or Germany, where his figure of 180,000 appears much too low. He does recount that Eichmann told him that Polish Jewry were the powerhouse for world Jewry and were to be completely exterminated. That amounts to over 3 million killed.

"I am convinced that with the exception of the few thousands of Polish Jews found alive in concentration camps, every single Polish Jewish individual has been killed." -- Wisliceny (p 368)

Another interrogation (more like a conversation) between two other people has the disturbing scene in which they begin to laugh as they recount how bad the area near the killing rooms smelled, but how it got to the point where one could eat a sandwich in there. That conversation ends with the man being interrogated saying that the only good thing that came out of the project was that a few million Jews were killed.
