I just got back from an AMAZING rally to support President Bush at the Shrine Auditorium in downtown Los Angeles, right across the street from the University of Southern California. An then I heard what they were chanting:Wow.I thought that **I** was intense. It is a good thing that these Iranian-American patriots are on OUR side. :o)As many of you know, we just found about the President's visit here a few days ago, and it is always difficult for those of us with a job, a family and/or a LIFE to break away on a workday to do ANYTHING, particularly during the miserable "rush hour" traffic on freeways leading into downtown Los Angeles. So, I only knew of a handful of FReepers who would even POSSIBLY be there.
And, I found out early this morning that one of the L.A. Chapter's FAVORITE FRiends, Mr. TED HAYES had a family emergency, and could NOT attend.
So, I was apprehensive as I drove to the site of what we expected to be a major anti-Bush rally organized by the "anti-war" group A.N.S.W.E.R.-L.A.
THEIR protest was scheduled for 5 pm, so I arrived early - at 4 pm - to claim a good spot for us to counter them. When I turned the corner onto the street in front of the Shrine Auditorium, my heart sank. There was already a HUGE crowd gathered in the PRIME location. RATs, I thought. They had a half dozen large vinyl banners - each ten feet by three feet, and MANY colorful flags - with at least THIRTY passionate protesters.
They beat me here. :(
"We support...Those guys were on OUR side!!!...President Bush!""We support......President Bush!""We support......President Bush!"
More soon.
In the mean time, please TURN ON your TV, and watch the nightly news for our rally.A few screen captures would be nice. :o)
There WERE lots of still cameras there - from the AP, from a Santa Monica newspaper, and from two USC newspapers, plus several TV cameras - from KTLA-5, UPN-13, a spanish-language TV station, and channel 2, I think. (Maybe MORE that I missed.)Plus, MANY students with camcorders - most working on "school projects."
So, we will EVENTUALLY get some images posted online - from them, we hope - later this week. :(
But, YES - they are fired up about joining us on March 20 in Hollywood. They just found out about THIS event this morning...I collected some e-mail addresses and telephone numbers.
...which makes it a particularly impressive turnout!

I know that KTLA interviewed the USC guys that I recruited to hold the "GOD BLESS AMERICA" sign - on the southwest corner. They also had my 20" x 30" bright red sign, with 6" letters that say:
It generally photographs well on TV.
Say a prayer, all, for the liberation of the Iranian people...I know I will tonight.
Good call, really really hard for the neo-commie pro-Soddomites to counter people so passionate from the region.
Hey, weren't they all there last June in Century City?Yes. Many of them were the same people, I think.
Only MORE intense ths time. :o)It REALLY demoralizes the "anti-war" crowd to see their intellectually-bankrupt, but emotionally-held positions totally DESTROYED by the reality of someone who has actually experienced the evil of our enemies firsthand. But VERY professional.VERY aware of the dangers of tyranny - from PERSONAL experience.
Almost all wore suits.
Doctors, lawyers, CPAs.
Most had family and friends still in Iran.HUGE contrast from the "anti-war" rabble.
MUCH like the Vietnamese-Americans that we met at "Support Our Troops" rallies in Garden Grove.Incredible moral authority.
bump!

President Bush spoke at the Shrine Auditorium Wednesday. More than 100 showed up for the event.

President George W. Bush's visit to Southern California on Wednesday was marked by demonstrations from more than 130 supporters and opponents who packed onto the four corners of Jefferson Boulevard and Shrine Place in the early evening. The demonstrators, both for and against the president, waved signs and shouted slogans at the drivers passing the Shrine Auditorium where Bush was scheduled to speak at 5:35 p.m.
With the clock ticking down to the November presidential election, Bush planned a three-day visit to California in hopes of raising funds for his re-election campaign.
The anti-Bush corner was home to about 80 people of all ages waving signs reading everything from a general "Stop Bush" to the more specific "End Occupation in Iraq" and "Immigrant Rights."
Many of the anti-Bush signs were provided by the Act Now to Stop War and End Racism organization, but they were joined by groups such as Code Pink, The Socialist Organization and Out Against War as well as by individuals simply wanting to be heard.
Those gathered at the corner shouting against Bush's policies felt it was necessary to protest even at a fundraising event to open the eyes of Californians.
"I hope to call attention to the fact that other people who think he should not be president will know they are not alone," said Eda Hallinan, a member of the women's peace group Code Pink.
"Bush is probably the worst president this country has ever had," she said. "I think that we are so much worse off now than when he first took office, in terms of the economy and our own security."
Along with the sea of anti-Bush posters, the protesters chanted their messages from a megaphone with sayings such as, "George Bush we know you your daddy was a killer too," and "Hands off Haiti."
But despite the loud anti-Bush sentiments, Bush supporters were not deterred from standing their ground. The largest group of Bush advocates at the four corners was a group of Iranians waving flags and shouting praises of the president's international policies.
"We're here to support President Bush because he's for democracy, not only in Iran, but around the world," said 59-year-old Reza Ershadi.
Fellow conservatives praised the Iranian effort to support Bush saying that they were dedicated and knew that Bush could help them.
"These guys have been here since 3 p.m.," said Ron Smith [aka RonDog] pointing to the Iranians. "Think about it, they've got family in Iran. They've got family right now in a brutal regime, and they're saying, 'well we appreciate what you did in Iraq, how about coming over here and helping us out in Iran...'"

It REALLY demoralizes the "anti-war" crowd to see their intellectually-bankrupt, but emotionally-held positions totally DESTROYED by the reality of someone who has actually experienced the evil of our enemies firsthand.
