Sorry, I disagree with you...he is not a social "conservative", but a fiscal conservative. I don't understand how so many conservatives can eliminate people based upon their stand on one or two issues? Jim is a very good man, has a great heart, and is honest with himself. I respect him whole-heartedly. If he had stayed in the closet, he would have been lying to himself. We all have issues, this is one that he has. He has chosen a different path that I would, but on the things that are most important to me, he is right on. His constituents love him and overwhelming re-elect him year after year. If he were to retire/switch parties, that district would be very hard for the Republicans to retain.

Again, you speak from ignorance. His constituents HATE him. HATE him. 6 months ago when he came through the area with his town halls, his constituents were very vocal in denouncing him in the meetings. In January when he held his town halls, every single one of them was protested by conservative Republicans fed up with the RINO.

He is not welcome in Cochise County at Republican Party events. There have been several this year and last year and he attended none of them. Likely, he was not invited as he is a lightning rod for controversy and is generally hated by most Republicans here. At last month's Lincoln Day Dinner, mere mention of his name prompted boos and jeers from the Republican crowd.

Two years ago he was afraid to even step foot inside the Cochise County Republican Party HQ. I have not met a single Republican in his district that supports him beyond a small cabal of RINOs that are infesting the party down here. I don't know who is voting for him in the primaries because no one I know wants anything to do with him.

His fiscal conservatism is questionable. His social conservatism does not exist. He does not, in any way, reflect any traditional Republican values. He is a RINO of the first degree. He is so bad that his Republican brother just recently came out against him in the newspaper and declared that Kolbe does not represent Cochise County, Rep. Tom Tancredo does.

Follow the embedded links. They help tell the story. Kolbe must go. He does not represent the people of his district and is a despicable individual.

Jim is a very good man, has a great heart,

That would explain why he's voted every time against any Partial Birth Abortion ban. That would explain why he is one of the most pro-abortion Republicans in Congress. Abortion is one of the vilest evils of our time. The Priests of Baal can only admire our bloody sacrifice of our own innocent children on the altars of convenience and promiscuous sexual behavior.

You are the first member of the LDS Church that I've met that gives any sort of support or defense for the wicked man that is Jim Kolbe.

A congressthing like Kolbe who favors the killing of children moments from birth by Partial Birth Abortion is obviously going further than even Herod Blackmun did in Roe vs. Wade. He buys off on and supports all 45 million homicides perpetrated in the Roe vs. Wade holocaust and those yet to occur.

Your wonderment over how conservatives can write off trash like Kolbe over "one or two issues" is not unlike being in wonderment over people who write off Hitler for killing 11 million or so, Stalin and the soviet leadership in killing 50 million or so and Mao in killing 75 million or so, all in non-combat situations in all three cases.

The real situation with Kolbe is not how hard it would be for an actual Republican to take his district against any Democrat but the fact that Kolbe would likely switch parties to gather with those whose social issue barbarianism reflects his own. If so, let it be. There are issues not to compromise on and sexual perversion and baby-killing are two of them.
