WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A senior FBI official says authorities have disrupted 35 terrorist-related incidents since the September 11, 2001, attacks.
"These include both domestic and international terrorism matters and consist of a variety of preventive actions, including arrests, seizure of funds and disruption of terrorist recruiting and training efforts and even, in certain cases, the prevention of actual attacks," said Larry Mefford, assistant director of counterterrorism for the FBI. He was testifying Thursday before a Senate judiciary subcommittee.

Just think, Bush and his Team may have saved Kerry's life a few times...
To: cateizgr8
Funny.... I never saw any headlines during Clinton's administration that they thwarted ANY terrorists attacks. And on CNN even! Impressive

I think that just before the Democrat Convention, the Bush campaign should run a radio ad that says something like this:
"Over the next few days, thousands of Democrats, including top party leaders, will gather in one building in Boston, for a well-publicized convention during which they will claim President Bush has not dealt effectively with the terrorist threat. They will do this with no apparent fears that there will be a terrorist attack on that building. To this, the Bush Administration would simply like to reply...'You're welcome.'"

This sort of news needs to get out -- so people know that the threat is still there. Under Bush's leadership, we have been able to foil these attacks, but the war on terror and national security should still be top priorities on everyone's mind.

Just when I was feeling good about the job they're doing you have to raise the specter of government incompetency.

But Kerry told us the threat of terrorism was exaggerated. How can this be?

But Kerry told us the threat of terrorism was exaggerated. How can this be?It is - I thought from the President's rhetoric that there would be 36 attempts, not 35. The President is obviously playing our our fears.
Ketchup: The zero successful attacks since 9/11 are way too many. The President hasn't done enough. I mean he's exaggerated and done too much. I have been very clear about this. Instead of foiling these attacks, we need more first-responders to pick up the bodies and treat the wounded.
What sounds like opportunistic waffling is really "Nuance". Why with "Nuance" you can be on both sides of any issue. "Nuance" fights accountability. "Nuance" may be a little older, a little grayer, but it still knows how to fight. Why do Republicans that never had "Nuance" insist on attacking Democrats who did?

The shoe bomber, the DC snipers, the Bali bombing, the UN bombing in Iraq, all show us that the terrorists are still attempting to commit homicide.
Just as we did not hear all of the near misses in the Cold War (although some stories are starting to come to light), we may never hear of all the victories in the War on Terror.
I have no doubt in my mind that the threat is genuine.

Fidelity, Bravery, Integrity. ...and, unfortunately, a history of hogging the limelight. Maybe this is true, maybe it isn't, but the only thing we can believe about the FBI is that they will stretch the truth if it makes them look good.

Famous But Incompetent.
Here is an embarassing question: How many AQ operatives have been successfully prosecuted in the U.S.?
How ask yourself, why is it that ZERO details about these supposed acts of "terrorism" have been released?

The threats are real, but they are eliminated by CIA and SPecOps operatives overseas. The "Homeland Security" operation is a joke.

Not only are FBI agents looking for operatives but they also are trying to locate anyone helping such people with fundraising, recruiting, training or other logistical efforts, Mefford said."We are also concerned about al Qaeda's continued intention and efforts to recruit U.S. citizens to support their cause," he added.

Zero? Since 9-11, LA Airport, International Terminal, El Al counters shootout. Isreali air security shot the guy. Small, but not 0.
