The biggest mistake was asking the Catholic cardinal for advice when they had the rat captured and Chevez cried and begged for forgiveness and promised he would reform. On the advice of the cardinal, they foolishly let Chevez go and he immediately had the army round up the leaders of the opposition and it's been hell to pay ever since. Let us hope they learned that cardinals don't know anything about government and how to handle commie dictators.

I understand that Chavez is a communist and a leader of the worst sort.

However, it is remarkable to note that the people participating in the mob violence appear very similar to the black mask anarchists that have been roaming around the world following the G8 meetings. And when you see signs in English in a spanish speaking country, it does make you wonder-- are they playing to the American press, or are those Americans who are down there to stir up trouble--kind of like Rachael Corrie.

I make no claim to understand all that is going on in Venezuela, but isn't it a possibility that the anarchists could be working for Chavez, to destabilize things so much that he can cement his regime with martial law and other draconian measures?

Its just an observation, based on one news source's photos.

This could very well be. The majority of the opposition are not aggressive but Chavez has stabbed them in the back so many times he has pushed them over the edge. They don't want to lose their rights and freedoms and they see them slipping away. They have put up a lot, including the revolutionary education now being taught in schools. Read some of the stuff at the LINK

Tens of thousands march to demand a referendum on Chavez (500,000)
