This is all perfectly legal according to the rules set out for such things. As long as the Chief Executive travels via AF1 on official presidential business at whatever destination, he can use the time there for fund raising.

For heaven's sake, how is the SS going to protect him if he travels any other way? It would therefore seem the objection is to the GOP President using his time for fund raising, because there isn't any other way for his life to be secure if he doesn't go by his official transport.

It's not news, no matter what the liberal press says.

As if the liberal press would ever deny a democrat president the right to follow this procedure!

Some have implied that "haircut" was a euphemism.

And when President Goober was attending up to three fund-raisers a day the press loved it, claiming bulging campaign coffers were indications of voter approval. Newsweek had a picture of Clinton on its cover with the title "Fundraiser in Chief!" The article inside rhapsodized about how he had raised more money than any president in history. Yeah...from China.

Or when a steady stream (appropriate metaphor, eh?) of Hollywood empty-heads were smokin' dope and bouncing on the bed in the Lincoln bedroom?
