Bush, Fox, promote plan to ease immigration laws

Crawford, Texas - President Bush and Mexican President Vicente Fox joined forces Saturday to promote Bush's plan for easing immigration laws, as Bush acknowledged that the proposal faces a tough time in Congress.

Standing side-by-side in bright sunshine at Bush's Texas ranch, the two leaders said Bush's plan for a new temporary worker program would help both countries by eliminating the underground market for Mexican workers. The proposal would let an estimated 8 million workers who are in the United States illegally gain legal status as guest workers.

"The people who come to this country make a significant contribution to the American economy," Fox told reporters.

Bush's plan, announced in January, has raised expectations in Mexico and among illegal workers in this country, but it has little chance of passing Congress this year. Republican critics say the proposal would reward illegal immigrants; Democrats complain that it does not do enough to help foreign workers become U.S. citizens.

Deporting Illegal Invading Aliens, in a time of war, and defending the Borders of your own Country - is rational.

Pardoning 12 million who have broken the law invading this country during a time of war and leaving the borders open -
Sorry, but I find THAT irrational

No Border - No Vote.

I do not believe it is possible to politically or tactically remove 8-12 million unknown human beings, many with legal family members... it won't happen, so alternative options have to be explored.

Where have I specifically argued against re-electing Bush?

Am I not entitled, as an American citizen, to find fault with my government's policy when I believe that it threatens my country's survival?

How convenient of you to make this solely into a "racist," anti-Mexican issue.

DOH!

About 90 percent of the freaking criminal illegal aliens are from Mexico professor. Where in sam hill you been? And who gives a damn if they are from Outer Mongolia? If they are here illegally, deport their butts and secure our borders.

We can send our troops to voodoo land in Haiti, where there is NO U.S. interest, but we can't protect our own borders?

If this government fails to protect our borders and our sovereignty from this epic, nationwide lawlessness, it too will eventually become illegitimate.

Bet the rent.

We'll never know, will we? The cowardly politicians in Washington won't even make an effort.

Since you're in California like I am, I must assume that you don't mind paying your share of the billions of dollars that illegal aliens in this state cost the taxpayers. I must assume that you don't mind that we're now being forced to build new schools because the illegal aliens are overburdening our schools. I assume that you don't care that our emergency rooms are overburdened, some are closing because of it, and that we have to pay the medical bills for millions of illegal aliens. Can I send you the bill for the portion I'm responsible for? I don't feel like paying it. I have my own family to support, I don't want to support the families of border hoppers.

Get used to it, learn the difference between people that will kill us and those that support the infrastructure.
It will be easy, one side will feed you and the other side will kill us all. (if they can)
The issue is no longer a debate of "we need" but who stays.

I imagine that we are all struggling with that, but Mr. Bush is asking for this.
Fortunately I have enough sense to realize that, because it is the truth

Of course it isn't possible. But you are wasting your breath on this bunch.

The administration has already written them off and so should we. Let them vote for perouka. He got 23,000 votes in the California primary.

Goodnight to you and the one or two other sensible folks on this thread.

You honestly believe it is the illegal aliens that have squandered the money in the state? Seriously, you really are blaming all of the broken public services on the illegals? You have to ask yourself, who sold you on that idea?

Actually, I have two friends named Paco and I borrow their name constantly. One wants twins so he can nickname them Paco and Taco.

And yes, us Micks are a very troublesome lot; I think my family is permanently banned from returning -- something to do with a rebellion against the Brits. The only reason my family is here is that the ship to Botany Bay was further down the pier, there was a pub next to the ship to New York, and the redcoats were thirsty.

BS. Illegal aliens don't feed us, our earnings do. Do you know that EACH illegal alien costs the state of California $55,000 per year? Most of them are on welfare, food stamps, free medical, free everything. How's that for a cheap head of lettuce?

Some people can't seem to figure out how to deport 12 million people. Wow lets see. there are 270 million of US and 12 million of them. In other other words, that is like 26 of US and ONE OF THEM. 26 to 1. If 26 people can't kick one person out of anywhere, then that means that either that one person has the cojones of 26 or that the 26 don't have a pair among them.

Just kick em out. If you can't prove your legal status in this country your out of here. You could register everyone in this country in a couple of weeks. While this was going on you close the borders. Those who don't pass muster are kicked outta here. For those who don't register, when they are pulled over by a cop for some reason - no more sanctuary - straight to the Arizona desert to dig the new Texas to San Diego super canal. ( 7 years in the desert ).

Lots of other ways. But if you don't have a pair among those 26, then fogetaboutit.

No Border - No Vote

Who said it was a single issue? More like the straw that broke the camels back for many here Jorge.

I'm waiting to hear what all the other "straws"are, and how they are so much more important than Bush's impressive list of conservative accomplishments.

Besides, allowing full-blown illegal immigration to take place with nary an effort to stop it - indeed, encouraging it! - is not a small pet peeve. It is an economic nuclear bomb. Your comment is like saying people shouldn't be upset just because of a single bomb - if that bomb happened to take out an entire city!

Let me see if I get this.
These illegal immigrants are already here and have been working in the USA, most of them for many years.

But if we give them some degree of legal status under a guest worker program, all of sudden their presence will become a "bomb"that blows up America.

And this "threat"; means we should elect a liberal Democrat to the White House.
Right.

Well then I guess that is what you feel, no way its going to happen, but keep dreaming. Meanwhile, my leader and president will find real solutions to real problems, as he always does.
