Bush, Fox, promote plan to ease immigration laws

Crawford, Texas - President Bush and Mexican President Vicente Fox joined forces Saturday to promote Bush's plan for easing immigration laws, as Bush acknowledged that the proposal faces a tough time in Congress.

Standing side-by-side in bright sunshine at Bush's Texas ranch, the two leaders said Bush's plan for a new temporary worker program would help both countries by eliminating the underground market for Mexican workers. The proposal would let an estimated 8 million workers who are in the United States illegally gain legal status as guest workers.

"The people who come to this country make a significant contribution to the American economy," Fox told reporters.

Bush's plan, announced in January, has raised expectations in Mexico and among illegal workers in this country, but it has little chance of passing Congress this year. Republican critics say the proposal would reward illegal immigrants; Democrats complain that it does not do enough to help foreign workers become U.S. citizens.

But what is the alternative? John Kerry said he will give citizenship to every illegal immediately upon taking office.

Kerry and Bush are in the same league, pitching the same ball to the same batter and the voters are sitting in the stands wondering how long the ball park, they paid for with their own tax dollars, will be left standing.

Durned Republicans know exactly what they are doing to the voters. We either stay home and let that slime Kerry and Hillary win, or we vote for Bush and Fox and get Meximerica as our new homeland.

I'm in Western Carolina and I'm ashamed of what it has become. It looks like little Mexico around here and it's not pretty.

But what is the alternative?

Voting for the candidate of the Constitution Party is the only way I can vote, my conscience won't allow me to vote for Bush OR Kerry. I held my nose and voted for Bush in 2000, and I can't do that again. Bush or Kerry will win, of course, that's all in the big plan for America and the "third way".

None of these mean a THING to you simply because Bush supports a guest worker program for people ALREADY in this country.

ILLEGALLY!!

I understand what you are saying, and I am so angry at our bloody politicians I see red. Either way it is going to happen. If Bush wins, Fox wins. If Kerry wins, Fox wins. Mexico can't lose and America can't win.

103-"I do not believe it is possible to politically or tactically remove 8-12 million unknown human beings, many with legal family members..."

XBob's plan:

1. Illegal's responsibility - caught illegals can never return to or work in US
2. Illegal's responsibility - Anchor babies - no longer allowed.
3. Illegal's responsibility - No SSI benefits for illegals.
4. Illegal's responsibility - No IR$ refunds for illegals.

1. Employer responsibility - 1st illegal employee caught - employer returns illegal to home.
2. Employer responsibility - 2nd illegal employee caught - employer returns illegal to home plus another caught by INS.
3. Employer responsibility - 3rd illegal employee caught - employer returns illegal to home plus 3 caught by INS.
4. Employer responsibility - 4th illegal employee caught - employer returns illegal to home plus 4 caught by INS.
5. Employer responsibility - 5th illegal employee caught - employer returns illegal to home plus 5 caught by INS.
etc, etc etc

Results:
Gradualally escalating returns of illegals, lots of self returns, illegals make money for govt rather than cost money.

7 - This plan is rough, but would work. What if FReepers we were add to/polish it up a bit, but keeping it very simple, and make a serious political proposal out of it?

Perhaps add something like migrant workers could only be hired in their country of origin, would have to come directly from it to their job, and be allowed to remain for only one harvest season, or 6 months, or something?

Let's do something constructive, rather than just bitch!!

Any illegals who receive medical/food aid at taxpayer's expense will have 25% of their wages deducted until debt is paid. Mexico must also agree to do the same on any wages the worker earns there.

Employers who wish to employ these willing workers must agree to pay any remaining amount their workers take from the social services support system that these workers do not repay.

"Actually, we need to give them a couple of years hard labor if we catch them, then send them back. Make crossing the border illegally something that doesn't pay off.

Just think what kind of border fence we could build with 12 million prisoners filling the fence building jobs Americans didn't want to fill."

Your plan has many good points, but there is one you've missed and it's glaringly obvious. How about making a REAL effort to seal off border lands BETWEEN legal border crossings?

"Of course it isn't possible. "

Apparently neither of youall are very smart and have very little imagination.

How did we get millions of men to Europe to fight world war 2? How did we get about 10 million men to vietnam?

Look at my last post and proposal, to make employers responsible for deporting illegals. Then without jobs, the illegals will also deport themselves.

That is only one of many possible ways - DUH !!!

118 - "But if we give them some degree of legal status under a guest worker program, all of sudden their presence will become a "bomb"that blows up America."

DUH !!! - You finally figured it out? That there are 100 million more on the border waiting for the signal to invade.

Look, this illegal immigration has to stop. Let's do something about it. Let's move these threads to black political activist websites and get some effective response on the issue. Blacks voting for Tancredo will get headlines. Big headlines and lots of attention. The blacks in America are the ones who have the most to lose in this issue. They were here in the US from day one and helped build the country. The Hispanics are newcomers.

The place to drum up a fervor is on the black websites.

Well I agree that we have to get control of our borders in any case.

80 - Interesting list of Bush accomplishments. It reminds me of the list of icebergs the Titanic avoided on it's last voyage.

Does it really? Perhaps those who know you should likewise not judge you on the 99 things you do right, but rag on you and tell you that you're going down over the one thing you do wrong.

It is really sad to see the political puritans on these boards who have nothing better to do than bash Bush, and ignore his good conservative record, simply because he isn't perfect in their eyes.

I don't believe they ever were genuine conservatives. Otherwise they would support Bush in order stop a super liberal like Kerry from being elected.

... your question is was not a "simple" one and I did not provide you with a "laundry list" of reading assignments.

Sure you did. You told me to "Go back and re-read the thread." "go back and re-read the forum." etc.

My question was simple. I asked you what all the other "straws" were that you claimed "broke the camel's back" when it came to Bush's record.

If there were so many "straws" why couldn't you come up with even ONE?

You just refuse to see the answer because you are blinded by your belief that Bush is God.

This is uncalled for. I already posted that I don't agree with everything Bush does.

If he finds out where they are and does something about it, that would be good. But I have all but given up on anyone seriously dealing with and helping the problems in border states. We have to shill out millions of dollars to educate their children (many have large families) and provide health care. Unless the good people in non-border states want to volunteer to shoulder that cost, maybe the fed government should be a little more pro-active in helping keep illegals out, not helping them get in.

Let me assist you one more time, so that you can return to the real issue at hand, unless you choose once again to avoid it with another shift in the detabe.

What is a "detabe"?
