You folks have the tactfulness of a Conservative Bull in a Pantywaist China Cabinet AND cojones the size of beachballs.

And your exploits never fail to motivate the hell outta me!!!!!! I'm old and fat and a disabled cynic who sometimes spends far too much time on the pity wagon . . . then stories like yours show me the power of courageous convictions and I'm able to once again join the fray.

I salute you!

Some of the protesters criticized President Bush for declining to attend any of the funerals for the dead and, continuing the practice of previous administrations, not allowing the public or media to witness the arrival of remains at the Dover mortuary.

"We need to stop hiding the deaths of our young; we need to be open about their deaths; we need to be open about the casualties," said Jane Bright of West Hills, Calif., whose 24-year-old son, Evan Ashcraft, a sergeant in the 101st Airborne Division, was killed in combat in July.

Yet I was "lectured" by these vermin about being "respectful" of the dead. How is this demand "respectful"? Hiding the dead my ass, these folks just want something for their side of the debate, an emotional scene that wins the political arguement for them. So much for their desire for people to be "respectful".

Bright accused Bush and members of his administration of being "war criminals" and said the pre-emptive invasion of Iraq was unjustified.

"I believe Bush needed a war, and he got one, in order to maintain high ratings with the American public," she said. "He's responsible for the deaths of thousands of Iraqis and almost 600 coalition troops."

David Cline, 57, of Jersey City, N.J., a combat veteran of Vietnam, said Bush is trying to hide the true cost of a war "based on his lies."

For an anti-war activist, he focusing more on Bush than the war. But then again, only the grieving families and the well meaning in the crowd were there for that. The leaders of the demonstration were NOT.

NORMALLY I DON'T RESEND, BUT THIS TIME IT NEEDED IT.

Yeah, I don't understand these so called "journalist" or the game they are playing. At several FReeps in SF, they come up to you, ask an absurd, loaded question and then when you ask for a press pass they get indignant. Some of 'em are wearing a bright orange "NO WAR" press badge which gives they uddles of credibility in my book...

I just ignore "journalist" now unless they can produce a legitimate "press pass" and even then thy don't report what you say.

"These people, by doing this, are giving an invitation to kill more soldiers," said Deming, who engaged in a shouting match with Sue Niederer of Pennington, N.J.

Actually, Sue was the one who started the shouting, but only after Medea Benjamin dragged her by the arm across six lanes of traffic to my side of the highway. Medea wanted her propoganda stunt and but she disappeared immediately when I started to expose her background, her beliefs and her goals. Medea didn't stick around to answer the questions for the Media.

Funny how these people talked about "common courtesy" when they never understand that you can't just go up and put your hands on people, even if you are mad. Sue had no problem jabbing a gloved finger several times into my chest. Why can't peace protesters be peaceful?

Did I mention Charlie Rangle drives an import? Hey, wonder how much union money contributed to Chas went into Mercedes' pockets?

Doctor Raoul,

Sir I don't know you, but I know of you, but had I known you were going to be up in Dover today, I would have made the 2 hour trip up there. Heck, if I had known the (expletives delted) were going to be there I probably would have gone anyway.

I didn't see this thread in time to catch the local news....which comes out of Salisbury, MD (same in Dover as Accomac, VA) but I will make a point of watching it at 11:15.......as of now neither TV website has anything on about it.

But since the AP reporter was Randall Chase, the article will most likely appear on the front page of the largest Delaware paper tomorrow...The Wilmington News Journal (I will refrain from using what those of us who have spent any amount of time in Delaware call it).

Giving a slight bit of credit to the broadcast media in the region......if the CBS affiliate station from Salisbury is who declined to interview you, I would say it is more because you weren't "local" as opposed to a leftist bias.....the local news on that station has no history of a leftist bias and I say that from 20 years of watching them and having dealt with them for many of those years.

It's simple, they're fascists.

And I'm not kidding. Usually, they have their own media folks that they like to call "Independent Media", or Independent Something or Other. What they are there to do is document the event for the left. Now here's the fascist part about them. Every definition of fascism includes the element that defines a fascist state, it's that only one view, that of the organization is allowed. When you ask for that press card, you're questioning their authority to be the organization's single voice. The other elemnet of fascism that goes with only the organization's view being heard is that all other views are ruthlessly and do mean ruthlessly silenced.

Look up fascism in any dictionary but the Official Workers World Party dictionary and you'll see that's consistantly part of the definition.

That's unusual.....the last time I remember the "network" really there was during the return of the Marines following the Beirut bombing. However, I will not even think to question your first hand knowlege.

And my apologies for forgetting the KUDOS to you I should have included in my previous post. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do.

Darn!!! I drove by a couple times on the way from Camden to the AFB (had my car hit a couple times, must have been the Support Our Troops and Bush/Cheney 2004 bumper stickers), but wasn't prepared. I found out about the protest this morning, and quickly saw the Peaceful Tomorrows/Tide Foundation link, but that's about it. Later, as I dug into United for Peace, et. al., and all the Communist/Leftist connections, I wrote a couple articles for our local papers. I'm not holding my breath though...

Wish I'd have seen you there, and it could have been a 2 person Freep!

"Military Families Speak Out" - they get a bit o' web-play at such places as  www.socialistworker.orgwww.wsws.org  (World Socialist Website), www.globalexchange.org

And this little gem -

Marxism mailing list archive
Subject: Military Families Speak Out: Campaign to Bring the Troops Home Now
http://archives.econ.utah.edu/archives/marxism/2003w28/msg00366.htm

"In Peace and Solidarity" indeed.

There's another outfit called BRING THEM HOME NOW or bringthemhomenow.org - one and the same with "Military Families Speak Out" - but they advertise to have donations sent in to -

Bring Them Home Now!
c/o Veterans for Peace
438 N Skinker Blvd
St. Louis, MO 63130

"Make checks payable to: VFP/BTHN
All donations are tax-deductible"
And at the bottom in fine print is -
"contact us at BTHN@mfso.org or PO Box 91233 Raleigh, NC 27675"

It's all right there - http://www.bringthemhomenow.org/

"Veterans for Peace"  - an affiliate of Institute for Global Communications (IGC), which is in turn a project of the Tides Center, a 501 (c) 3 tax-exempt organization.
