Zapatero fights losing battle ("First thing I will do...is go to the US and support John Kerry")

Zapatero fights losing battle

“THE latest opinion polls are like the Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq. A complete fabrication.” This was socialist candidate for Prime Minister Jose Luiz Zapatero in buoyant form in Palma on Thursday night.

Zapatero is well behind in the opinion polls and looks set to be defeated by the conservative Partido Popular leader Mariano Rajoy in the general elections on March 14 but he certainly got his message across.

The words too little too late come to mind because what he said in Palma should touch a chord with many voters.

“The first thing I will do when I am elected is to go to the United States and support John Kerry, my allies will be the students and families who can't afford their own home,” and on the question of the Balearics “the PP's model for these islands is build without limit”.

The party faithful just loved it and he will certainly have raised morale. But barring any last minute change Zapatero will not be going to the United States, well not as Prime Minister anyhow. His comments on Kerry come as no surprise; he is a socialist and naturally a Democrat in the White House would suit him quite nicely.

Zapatero is fighting a losing battle against a Partido Popular machine which is modern, forward thinking, and very much Madrid based and big on the international stage.

The socialist leader could do with a helping hand. Who better to help Zapatero than another socialist candidate who was even more impressive than the young Spaniard. Of course I am referring to Mr. Anthony Blair who has not uttered a single word of encouragement for his Spanish counterpart, in fact he wined and dined Rajoy at Number 10, just recently.

You can understand why there is no love lost between the Zapatero camp and Blair. Surely a socialist government in Spain would be better for Blair? Obviously not.

Watch KERRY claim this is the FORGINE LEADER he was talking about on 3-8, even though he just got elected.

I guess Zap must be one of those "international leaders" Kerry claimed were supporting him. Like we care about his foreign fan club, real or imagined.

Well, since Zapatero has so clearly declared his support for Kerry, I wonder if Bush will call him and congratulate him on his victory. After all, he did call Kerry and congratulated him on his primary victories. Surreal.

I hope the people like Zap who "support" Kerry become an embarrassment to him, but there's been thundering silence from the press on this. Not to mention silence from Kerry himself.

This will blow up in Kerry's face so let's hope he does it and follows through...and of course the lib media covers it.

Even on CNN this morning the e-mails from viewers have been scorching towards Spain. "Amazing, we get bombed and two tyranical regimes are removed...Spain gets bombed and they roll over" one guy wrote.

Let's see - on March 6th he's losing - on March 11th the bombs go off and he wins the next day. Interesting.

“The first thing I will do when I am elected is to go to the United States and support John Kerry,"

I don't think America will stand for one terrorist-selected candidate supporting another.

Have we ever run a foreign head of state out of the country on a rail?

"Mr. Zapatero, will your terrorist buddies help you get re-elected, too?"

Wonder if he's planning to stop off in Peking to pick up some money so he can make a more typical contribution?

John Kerry : The choice of Socialists and their terrorist allies the world over.

The Spanish electorate is comprised of the same type of people we have over here that say we had no reason to invade Iraq and Afghanistan, that we are fighting an 'unjust war'. We call them the 'blame America first crowd'.

What the Spainiards did was tell the terrorists that killing people in the name of terror influences elections favorably for them. Expect widespread terror attacks the world over, anywhere a pro-US government is having elections.

This is not new. We have seen this in Israel for decades.

That was my own (tinfoil hat) observation. On the other hand, the terrorists probably didn't need much help--they might have known the Spanish population well enough to know they'd take French surrender lessons if faced with enough carnage. A Socialist win was definitely in their favor.

Frankly, I worry about our own population if this country faces similar terrorism just days before the election--I'd expect the media and Kerry to be bleating that if only we'd made nice with the terrorists, none of this would have happened. Freepers, I know, would not roll over. But what about the Victim Culture of the west and east coasts?

The thought makes me shudder. For the first time in two years I don't feel safe. My town is ringed with container ports and petrol facilities, not quite an inconspicuous spot. :(

Unlike Spain, who admittedly dealt with ETA terrorists for years, the US was attacked in 2001 (and earlier) just because of what we represent, not because of who we supported. If the terrorists think that we are going to roll over and just play victim, they are very much mistaken. The differences are very clear, and will be made more so as the year progresses toward the election. Unfortunately, this has very likely emboldened them to plan more attacks on us, though we were in the crosshairs from day one.

Sad, but true. I wonder if they are silently hoping for some small attack to help shove them into the White House. I know it sounds preposterous but with those weasels on the other side nothing is out of the question in my mind.

That's the first thing he plans on doing? Not very reassuring to the folks in Spain who, one would think, expect finding & prosecuting the perps of the bombing at the top of his priority list. All in all though, when F'in John Kerry has friends like this, he doesn't need enemies.

Exactly my take. Then he announces that his first act will be to go to America & help JK get elected...we are witnessing the emergence of the AQ political party.
