The band Incubus (they should be named Daft Punk) has a rancid little song out called Megalomaniac. It is Moveon.org set to music. Some of the lyrics:

*** The video for the song is even more rancid, it makes clear that the "Megalomaniac" is George W. Bush and that he is on a global jihad for Big Oil. Haven't we heard this before? I can't believe that this band thinks its edgy. The terrible thing about today's rockers is they are so talentless and unoriginal-- now they are sampling the politics of the Vietnam era.

According to Incubus, Bush is Adolph Hitler. Moveon.org much? What a dreadfully boring, cover band! And they also insult Christian conservatives. Of course, they used a French director for this masterpiece. One scene shows the good Book spelled "Buy Bull." What is it with these people? They uniformly hate Bush and Christians. They have less philosophical diversity than the Taliban and ,yet and still, they lecture us on conformity. It's a joke.

Another scene shows a blue collar family in Red State America at the dinner table with only black gold to eat. Are you kidding me? Bush is now starving the nation and saying, "Let them eat high octane!" How did I miss that?

Aren't we an obnoxiously obese nation? There is absolutely zero danger of this nation having to use regular unleaded as a substitute in Hamburger Helper.

Of course, this band blames Red State America for guzzling gas. Is it too touchy to ask how in the heck the band gets from town to town? I bet the boys charter a plane when they go to spots like Miami, Cleveland, Detroit (and of course they have dates outside of America)-- I'm sure a NASCAR Dad from Alabama uses more Mideast oil than they do.

What ever happened to proudly decadent acts like Zeppelin? Now we have this new breed of sanctimonious frauds who hate America. I don't get it. Page and Plant saw America as the land of milk and underage honey (for better or worse). These new idiots loathe and lecture middle class America even though they bang the Hilton sisters and ride in Hummer limos.

I loathe hippies, but Country Joe and the Fish look like Gods compared to the ratty mooks that make up Incubus.

I was a big rock fan during the 1970s and 80s but I really don't care much about the genre anymore. It's gotten too mean and angry for me.

I've been retreating into the world of classical music. Don't know much about the political leanings of Bach, Beethoven and Mozart, but at least I don't have to worry about them bashing Bush at the Grammy's because they've all been dead for hundreds of years now. Discovering their works has been a real pleasure over the past few years. Also Monteverdi, Handel, Haydn, Schubert and others.
