Good luck.

I read your site. My current state rep just won his first term at age 22 so it can be done. He knocked on 15,000 doors(even 1/4 mile driveways) and even used painted plywood for his big signs since the campaign could not afford big standardized campaign signs. His community got behind him(the small signs were everywhere) though and he won since they outvoted the other areas of the district. Right to Life stayed neutral, as did the NRA and Chamber of Commerce so they were not major factors.

The best advice I can give is to knock on as many doors as you can and go to all the community events.

Best of luck to you. Ironically, I almost moved to Idaho last year...but decided to pursue the next stage in my career by becoming the spokesman for a large liberal city on the coast -- bleech!

After doing this for about six months, Idaho looks better and better!

I've spent over 20 years working in and around state legislatures...I know you have your work cut out for you, especially so if you win. Even in a state like Idaho, relatively unified and cohesive, the capitol will be pretty well immersed in hard-ball politics -- with freshman legislators being viewed as marks more than colleagues. Hang tough...very, very tough. And avoid getting sucked in to others' agendas.

He knocked on 15,000 doors

That is what you have to do.

Even in a state like Idaho, relatively unified and cohesive,

You mean a bunch of RINOs, and a few conservatives who are always fighting an uphill battle.

Well, the county I am in has a much greater population than the entire state of Idaho...and an Idaho RINO would be considered way off the right side of the scale here. It's all relative. At least this fellow has a chance where he is.

Opponent is Tom LeClair in the primary, Margaret Henbest in the general. I'm going to have to call Ben Doty today because I heard that my name was missing for the candidate list even though I filed at the beginning at LeClaire didn't file till the end. I'm going to try and get a hold of Dave Ripley in the coming days, as well.

Please let me know what Ben Doty, and David Ripley have to day. I don't know much about LeClair but think he is probably a liberal? Right?

You are right because Idaho Republicans are sick of Rinos.
