Stark Rove-ing Mad: Meet the "pro-immigrant" thugs at Ntional People's Action

For a moment this Sunday, the yard outside White House senior adviser Karl Rove's home looked like a scene from "On the Waterfront."

In the screen version, Karl Malden's parish priest finds his church surrounded by union toughs who bang their clubs on the basement windows in an effort to intimidate those inside attending a meeting on dockside corruption. In the real-life Beltway version, nine busloads of activists "stormed" (the Washington Post's word) Mr. Rove's yard, blocking the street, surrounding both sides of the house and pounding on the windows at a time when he was inside with his 15-year-old son and his son's friend.

Much as I detest Leftist Unwashed protestors, I find it somehow sweetly ironic that these protestors unleashed on Karl Rove the kind of attack that Rove has unleashed on America by shoving the millions of illegals down our throats. Our cities are awash in crime thanks to the illegal invaders "who are only here to do the work Americans don't want to do."

There weren't millions of illegals prior to 01/2000?

Specifically, they cite President Bush's failure to support legislation that would give illegal aliens who had lived in the U.S. for five years and paid taxes for three the right to in-state tuition at state universities.

And the Feds can tell the states this how?

Mr. Rove serves a President who has proved himself willing to buck a significant part of his own coalition by pushing a forward-looking, pro-immigration plan.

In Wall Street Journal-speak "forward looking" is the crushing of the wage market power of the lower and middle classes of American citizens and residents.

Methinks Karen Hughes has been brought back on the scene because Mr. Rove is falling out of favor. Although this comment might not seem relevant to the story posted here, I believe it is, because Karl is the one who advised President Bush to announce his 'non-amnesty-amnesty' plan at the time that he did, whicb was a huge backfire. Now, to have the people he's pandering to invade his yard is, to me, somehow gratifying. Not that it solves the problem.

Unfortunately, on the Bill O'Reilly show last night, Karen Hughes sounded like a cheerleader for the new Bush Amnesty scheme. I was hoping she'd bring some sanity to the situation, but sounds like she's fully onboard too. Sad!

Would somebody please pass this on to the full immigration list?

Did anyone catch how Rove first complained that the protestors had harassed "my two sons" before it was pointed out that one of the kids is not actually his?

I thought that was weird.

I love the WSJ so hear my comment through that qualifier. It is really an ugly sight to see conservatives take up liberal rhetoric, for whatever reason. They could have made their point without the stupid "forward looking" comment. Whose idea was that? Do they have a closet liberal lurking in their midst? I understand that they are pro-immigration because they are the pro-business WSJ. I wish they would acknowledge the costs to taxpayers as they hear those business ka-chings dancing in their heads. But it's not going to make me like them less. However, using idiotic liberal rhetoric like "forward-thinking" will turn me off in a hurry. What is that other than a bunch of nonsense? Everyone in the debate is "forward-thinking." It's just that we all have varing visions of it.

As long as we are Welfare-USA, this guest worker plan is going to be unfair. When it costs me nothing, then I'll stop complaining.

The same way they tell the states what their DUI level will be or what their speed limit will be --- do what we say or we cut off your Fed education funds.

I wholeheartedly agree with your Karen Hughes assessment on immigration; I saw her on O'Reilly, too, and she's a panderer, which tells us where we stand. What my point was is that I think Karl Rove originally squeezed her out and he is now falling out of favor in general, and she's back. Since you saw the interview, too, I think you also saw she claimed she would have prevented the 'Mission Accomplished' scene and the phrase 'misunderestimated'. I just hope the GOP camp gets some stones and gets it together on a strategy soon.

Immigration Daily just posted what sounds like a notice of defeat. This is fabulous news if true!

" EDITOR'S COMMENTS: DREAM Act May Be Dead

The National People's Action (a pro-immigrant rights coalition group) protested outside White House senior advisor Karl Rove's residence last Sunday. The protestors wanted to obtain Mr. Rove's support for the DREAM Act, which would permit undocumented immigrant students to attend state universities at an in-state tuition rate. The protestors entered Mr. Rove's lawn and pounded on his windows frightening Mr. Rove's son and a neighbor's child who was in the house at the time, enraging Mr. Rove who demanded that the protestors leave. According to a Wall Street Journal op- ed, the neighbor's child was in fact the son of an immigration attorney. Far from achieving their aims, the protestors' efforts will likely backfire. Without Mr. Rove's support and by extension the President's support, the DREAM Act is likely dead for 2004.

Hallelujah, if true!

I just today posted the second in my series of pieces on Karl Rove at my web site (Karl Rove--Revisited!). In my opinion there is no task more important to long term Republican interests, as well as American interests, than to send Rove packing.

Frankly, I almost suspect that he somehow staged this incident. He is just dysfunctional enough to think that that might make his advice more palatable.

Just as an aside, we had our local GOP District Caucus last Saturday, and one of the candidates gave his political speil, then asked for questions. The only thing delegates wanted to talk about was what ws he going to do to do about the illegal alien mess. He tried the tired pitch about "well we can't round them all up and throw them out", "we need them", "there's no way we can close the border", etc." and the more he talked, the more heated the crowd's responses. He tried switching the subject to telling us what he was doing about the Canadian border. He was told in no uncertain terms that it isn't the Canadians causing us trouble. The Canadians come bearing tons of money to spend here. The Mexicans come bringing crime, drugs and deceit. I think he got a little taste that the folks back home may not be the doormats he assumed they were.

In the Wall Street Journal's view, having taxpayers subsidize the wages of illegals through socialist services programs is perfectly fine.

The illegals are parasites "yearning to eat free".

My gosh, I didn't realize that Rove had single handedly smuggled in millions of aliens. When does the man find time to sleep.
