We didn't have such an alert system.

If this person went straight to Salon.com, this person is not credible.

Read the article. Grassley said she was credible. However, she is the same person who first made headlines in 2002 by blowing the whistle on the FBI's translation department.

I smell a rat.

Another government person comes out against our president. It's amazing that all these Democratic plants and Paul O'Neil are doing what they are doing.

As I recall, the government had a good idea that AQ was going to attempt a hijacking, and the evidence pointed it happening in Europe. That's it.

Of course, not only did Clinton turn down getting Osama repeatedly in the 90s, he also chose to ignore information extracted by the Philippine government that Islamists would try to use commerical airliners as flying bombs. Guess that would be yet another Richard Clarke failure.

WOW! Someone had knowledge that legally boarded passengers would take control of airplanes with nothing more than box cutters and crash them into buildings!?!?

We got smacked on 9/11 because RICHARD CLARKE spent BILLIONS on anti-terror measures and not one thing was done to stop legally boarded passengers from taking control of airplanes with box cutters.

We tap everything -- we don't have time to read it all. Are we going to push the govt to the same place we have pushed the street: DON'T hold onto any information/communication that is not directly related to an official action or you will be pursued later for political gain...

I am glad to see our security forces giving out all this information. We had tighter security in the Boy Scouts.

This kind of crap is not going to work simply because the day it happened nobody believed it until they saw it with their own eyes.

She is working from 20/20 hindsight. More proof that Liberals don't belong in the govt.
