Haynes is truely a leftist. Many of the guys in that industry depend on taking advantage of others for their livelihood. Trading not on skill but on deception. Wall Street gave us Senator Hillary.

You sure got taken in on that one.  You're getting your industries confused.  The bush-bashing news media tells you that the economy is bad, that capitalists are crooks, and to vote for Hillary.  They also promise to create jobs and they eliminate them.  Guys like Haynes and Krugman may call themselves economists, but you and I know they're entertainers.

The financial industry has been working hard creating jobs and hiring people and promising nothing except good wages for those that keep their skills up to date.  We've also been saying for over a year that unemployment was going down all the time hearing the bush-bashers crying that we're doomed and screaming for higher taxes to protect them.

How about a little respect around here.  A little gratitude would be nice too.

The dems can try to downplay this by 72,000, but they conveniently forget the mention the following. There were 50,000 temporary replacement workers who are now out of a job. And about 20% of the strikers didn't return to work (found jobs elsewhere, quite, etc.). So the net effect of the end of the strike had little to do with the 308,000 new jobs.

I heard that on the news yesterday! What about importing young people from other parts of the US who are willing to work where the spoiled rich kids on the Cape are not? Why do we have to import foreigners when there are probably kids right here in this country who need summer employment?

Damn good question. You think it would be hard to get kids to work on the Cpae for the summer? Cripes.

In that poll, we see this interesting result:

Candidate. Feb Mar
George Bush 46% 46%
Jean Kerry 47% 40%
Don't Know 8% 12%
Ralph Nader N/A 3%

In other words, Bush is solid at 46%, while Kerry rolls off the table, dropping 7% to Nader and DK.

I hire people who spel bad (speell?) but I got no room for bad attitude.  I think we see a lot of bad-attitude unemployed here because not everyone is as lucky as you and me to have time for freepin' and still punch a clock.  It's bad enough when the doomers bad mouth good news, but when they keep trying to raise my taxes to 'protect' them it gets real old.

"Do you EVER have anything positive to say?"

Yes I do. I might not have made it obvious, but today's March employment number is very good news. I have always thought this index is the proper one to use because it can be related to a longer period than the household survey. It just seems odd in a way that so many who dismissed these numbers and their source have had such a quick conversion to it's support.

Call me cynical, but if you all of a sudden fall in love with a statistic - it's a bit like leaving your wife of 20 years for a 'hottie' or 'trophy wife'.

Keep in mind 1 month or quarter of good job numbers is not a trend yet - but could very well be the start of one. The champagne is on ice in the clubhouse - but won't be uncorked until the ballgame is over.

"My question is how many are truly unemployed? Unemployment rates don't include students or unemployed people that have given up searching for a job."

Who are these so called "given up looking for work" people? Are they dead beats that are sponging off their parents or wifes, prima donnas afraid to break a sweat? Men work, they don't gripe. When I found myself between work a few years back I delivered pizza at night and in turn, brought home 3X a week what a UE check was worth! This generation is so lazy!
