We already did. It was called Lawrence! Fact is it was William Clarke Quantrill who burned it.

Hey don't gripe about it as you support what Sherman did which was no different.

I've never brought up Lawrence. On the other hand you southron types piss and moan about that mean 'ol Sherman on a daily basis around here.

opinions are like bellybuttons: everyone has one & they mostly stink.

Stinky bellybuttons? Must be a southron thang. Here up North we have running water and indoor plumbing and take these things called 'showers' and 'baths'.

Which month is Confederate "Whupped Dog" or "Tail Between Our Legs" month in honor of the glorious victory of the Union? Didn't Lee give up in April & Davis get tracked down shortly thereafter (dressed like a woman & running through the night).

generally speaking baths/showers don't improve either the deportment or the smell of damnyankees.

If this is your very best attempt at humor you need to
subscribe to the comedy channel. You failed miserably.

As if the confederacy was a big success. When the best you can do is celebrate losers - you have to have a sense of humor. Guess what - the war is over & y'all lost.

But you know what if I had fought in that war we would have one and this country and the world would be better place and not because of blacks but because of ignorant Yankees like you.

"I hate it when I let people like you upset me and I make typos"

Not to worry, I just think it's really silly to celebrate a truly 'lost cause'. I had ancestors on both sides and don't feel the need to have a whole month to celebrate the 'heritage' of those that were on the wrong side of the issue - not to mention losers of the war they started. They were big talkers then that couldn't follow their blustery words with deeds. Now the feeble attempts to make them heros (more like dupes) is offensive to me and many others.

If you want to celebrate something - at least celebrate a cause that was just.

Please tell us what all was "unjust" about the Southern cause?

You do know the Civil War had nothing to do with
slavery don't you?
It started because the Yankees were ripping us off on our cotton and other crops. And I mean do RIPPING US OFF
and we wanted to with draw from the Union and start our on country. Sounds like the sort of just cause that started this Great Country in the first place. What do you think?

Surely, he was nothing more than a war criminal. He made war on women and children.

Should we dig him up and have a trial?

Of course not.

"What was the reason that induced Georgia to take the step of secession? This reason may be summed up in one single proposition. It was a conviction, a deep conviction on the part of Georgia, that a separation from the North-was the only thing that could prevent the abolition of her slavery. -- Speech of Henry Benning to the Virginia Convention

Why are you and familyofman (the retread) on this thread picking on Mississippi?

Do you have a problem with the majority of folks in my homestate electing a governor who is upholding an innocuous tradition supported by that same majority that elected him?

And where is your mentor Wlat these days?

Go find a Lincoln or TheSouthShallRiseAgain thread to vent on why doncha?

Damn....Mississippi is arguably the most dependable conservative state in the Union along with Bama and South Carolina.

You should be grateful.....unless of course you are not a conservative and JR just lets you hang here to balance the Southron contingent like he did (does) Wlat the Democrat.
