This display has garnered the Margaret Reed Crosby Memorial Library the prestigious "John L. Harris Heritage Preservation Award" from the Mississippi Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans. This award is named for a Black Confederate servant who, in later years as a Mississippi Representative, was instrumental in the construction of the impressive Monument to the Confederate Dead that stands on the grounds of the Old Capitol in Jackson.

Confederate Flag (1865)

On March 4, 1865 Jefferson Davis, President of the Confederate States of America, approved an act revising the previous Confederate flag. A vertical red bar was added at the end of the white field opposite the union. Less than a month later, on April 9, 1865, Gen. Robert E. Lee surrendered. Five days after Lee's surrender, Lincoln was assassinated, the first U. S. President to be killed in office.

An actual Confederate Flag of 1865 is shown below.

April is Texas Confederate History and Heritage Month, too.

Won't hear much in the media about it, though.

The Battle of Nashville Monument honors the soldiers
of both the Union and the Confederacy. Holding
their colors are reenactors Bill Radcliffe of
Co. B, 54th Massachusetts Volunteers,and Michael
Agee of the Army of Tennessee.

And yes, we can all get along better by
respecting each others heritage and traditions
while rejecting hate-mongerers' agendas. Not that
I'd point any fingers.

I want to take my family to Mississippi for vacation this summer. But we absolutely insist on staying in a cabin in the woods. Is there a particular area or town in MS that is a cabin hideaway type place with lotsa trees? Please advise. Thank you!

Which month is Confederate "Whupped Dog" or "Tail Between Our Legs" month in honor of the glorious victory of the Union? Didn't Lee give up in April & Davis get tracked down shortly thereafter (dressed like a woman & running through the night).
