9/11 Panel Outs CIA Spymaster

Raising further questions about whether it's doing more harm than good, the commission probing the Sept. 11 attacks has revealed the identity of the CIA's top spymaster, a position considered so sensitive that in the entire history of the agency the anonymity of the person who holds it has never before been breached.

Called to testify on Wednesday, James L. Pavitt, head of the CIA clandestine operations unit, told the panel, "I am not a public person."

In a story headlined "Clandestine, Or at Least He Was Until Yesterday," the New York Times noted that the decision to out Pavitt by having him testify in public was so extraordinary that even some panel members expressed reluctance about the move.

"My stomach's been turning as Mr. Pavitt's been answering questions here this afternoon," 9/11 commissioner former Sen. Bob Kerrey said.

Kerrey urged the White House to issue a legal opinion saying that Pavitt's appearance did not set a precedent, the Times said.

Asked if being outed by the 9/11 panel made him uncomfortable, Pavitt answered cryptically, "Yes and no ... no one in my position has ever testified publicly."

Kerrey urged the White House to issue a legal opinion saying that Pavitt's appearance did not set a precedent, the Times said.

I guess it depends on the meaning of the word "precedent".

Seriously, the Dems are just openly hateful of America. They want to weaken our security. They want us to lose the War against Terrorism. They want many soldiers killed. They want many grieving families for the media to interview. They want our economy to hit rock bottom. Everything they want is bad for this country.

Where does one begin when detailing the incompetence of this 9/11 commission? Between their defense of Gorelick's conflict of interest position, their personal political ambitions and their media grandstanding, it's hard to choose.

And there's a Grand Jury convened to find out who exposed Joe Wilson's wife's connection to the CIA? Hell, her name wasn't even used in that case. This breach is far worse than what the Grand Jury's been dealing with.

This SERIOUSLY is not within the scope of the 9/11 commission to "out" an undercover agent. This agent sounds far more critical to our national security then Joe Wilson's wife...

There is no outrage when it comes to the liberal double standard the press gives us every day.

The guy should have downright refused to testify publicly.

My stomach turns Bob whenever I think of how you could have been.

Bump for emphasis. Also, the dems would rather rule in hell than serve in heaven. If they cannot rule America, they would rather destroy her.

Atrocious. People won't care until we're burying 10x the number that died in 9/11.

I'm half expecting Mansoor Ijaz' long lost brother from "the old country" to show up if he testifies in public... (Godfather bump)

"'My stomach's been turning as Mr. Pavitt's been answering questions here this afternoon,' 9/11 commissioner former Sen. Bob Kerrey said."

Mine's been turning since I saw how low Kerrey and the rest of the Democrat partisan hacks would sink in their ruthless grab for power and political advantage.

Make public the identity of the head of the CIA clandestine operations unit?

Compromise U.S. national security?

Force National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice to endanger national security by testifying before their self-serving "commission"?

Of course. Nothing is more important to these moral cretins than disparaging President Bush and grabbing some kind of political advantage.

James L. Pavitt, head of the CIA clandestine operations unit, is outed by public testimony; whereas, Mansoor Ijaz, who worked as a contractor with the Clinton White House, and who WANTS to testify in public, must testify in private.

Go figure!
