Kerry National Headquarters Sics Cops on Freepers, Kristinn to Be On Fox News - On Now
D.C. Chapter of FR ^ | 4/17/04 | L_von_Mises

Posted on 04/17/2004 12:03:06 PM PDT by L_Von_Mises

The DC Chapter of Free Republic set up a Viet-Cong Vets for Kerry bake sale in front of Democrat Presidential candidate John Kerry's national headquarters in Washington DC this afternoon. The Kerry campaign responded by calling the D.C. police to shut down the bake sale.

When the D.C. police arrived they ordered the DC Chapter to shut down the protest in 15 minutes or they would ticket them for occupying a public space without a permit. At that point the police would then disperse them themselves.

Due to the short notice, and the fact that it would be a small group, the DC Chapter did not apply for a permit.

Kristinn is scheduled to appear on Fox News this afternoon for an in-studio interview. The interview should air sometime between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm today. As more details become available, they will posted here.

Kudos to those that attended. The honor roll is Kristinn, Angelwood, TGSLTakoma, TBP, Trueblackman, and Staytrue.

Here is the link to the original announcement about the bake sale

D.C. Chapter ^ | Thursday, April 15, 2004 | Kristinn
Posted on 04/15/2004 5:23:17 PM PDT by kristinn

The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic invites all FReepers and lurkers in good standing to join us this Saturday for our Viet Cong Vets for Kerry bake sale outside Democrat presidential candidate John Kerry's national campaign headquarters.

As a spoof of MoveOnPac's nationwide Kerry bake sales being held on Saturday to 'prove John Kerry is a man of the people,' the D.C. Chapter will be holding our own bake sale to inform the public about Kerry's betrayal of his fellow American servicemen during the Vietnam War.

Items being offered at the Viet Cong Vets for Kerry bake sale will include:

Three Scratches and You're Out Purple Heart Cookies,
Hanoi Hilton Misfortune Cookies,
Jane Fonda Nut Cakes,
Punji Bread Sticks,
Ho Ho Ho Chi Mints, and
Vichyssois.

Free Range Waffles and Kerry Flips Flops will also be offered.

Yes, I had read that, but I understand it's only necessary to get a permit if a large group is expected, and the D.C. group has always done that.

As a spoof of MoveOnPac's nationwide Kerry bake sales being held on Saturday to 'prove John Kerry is a man of the people...
From http://action.moveonpac.org/bakesale/:
On Sat., April 17, all across the country, thousands of people will organize bake sales to raise money for MoveOn PAC's campaign to Take Back the White House. While George Bush raises money mostly from wealthy donors, we will demonstrate the broad-based grassroots support supporting MoveOn PAC and John Kerry.

Whether you can organize an event, bake something, or help out selling things, we can use your help. If you create a new bake sale, others may sign up to help. If there is already a bake sale in your neighborhood, you can sign up to help with it, or hold your own.
Click here to schedule a new event.

Sell 100 cookies, brownies, or pieces of pie--you're a Pioneer!
If you top 200 items sold, you're a Ranger.

And all you have to do is find a place to hold it and some friends to help you bake things.
See--it's a piece of cake!

I just spoke to Kristinn and Fox has decided that they would not be conducting the interview because they will be focusing on recent developments is Israel. I hope that some other news service picks up the DC Chapter/Kerry HQ story. Let a few more people know what a man of the people Kerry is.

Thanks, kitkat. So maybe the cop was mistaken. OTOH, maybe it was the fact that a table was set up. I'm sure Kristinn will clarify all this.

Kristinn also mentioned that despite the NVA flag and the large sign that said "Viet Cong Vets for Kerry", the people at Kerry's HQ really thought they were there to support Kerry. In fact one woman even tried to donate $20. That says a whole lot about the kind of people running Kerry's campaign. Not only are they about as sharp as a wet sponge, but they would be willing to take support from the Viet Cong. When they finally figured out that the joke was on them, I guess that is when they decided to call the cops.

Play this up: require a trial, conviction, press coverage, full circus. The face time in the press is invaluable, and a first offense will elicit a slap on the wrist at most.

Good going folks!
