9/11 commissioner: 'I've received threats'
CNN ^ | 04/17/2004 | Unattributed

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Jamie Gorelick, a member of the commission investigating the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, said Saturday that she received death threats this week after a number of conservatives alleged that her former work in the Justice Department may have contributed to failures leading to the attacks.

In the mid-1990s, Gorelick served as deputy attorney general of the United States. During that time, she wrote a memorandum establishing distinctions between intelligence that could be used for law-enforcement purposes and intelligence that could be used for national security purposes.

That separation was originally required as a safeguard against abuse of citizens' rights by government investigative agencies. But passage of the Patriot Act in the wake of the attacks eliminated the requirement.

The so-called "wall" governing intelligence uses has been a key subject at hearings of the commission. It has been blamed for being a main obstacle to better sharing of information in connection with the September 11 attacks.

"I can confirm that I've received threats at my office and my home," she told CNN on Saturday. "I did get a bomb threat to my home."

She added, "I have gotten a lot of very vile e-mails. The bomb threat was by phone."

ABC News first reported the story Saturday.

If this woman received any death threats, trust me it was probably from the DNC (Clintons) to keep her mouth shut.

ABSOLUTELY.

Let us not forget the death threats that Rush fans sent Tom Dashle that he refused to give examples of when challenged on.

So you assume she's telling the truth. I don't.

Yours is the better assumption given that she originally denied havind written the memo.

Oh yeah, you can bet she'll pull out every victim card in the deck. I'm sure she contributed greatly to expanding the numbers of the grievance class during her time at DOJ.

Death threats, huh? Note to Jamie. Don't go into any tall buildings around 9am anytime soon.

Especially in Oklahoma or Manhattan.

Physical threats against the enemies of our country will not lead to our survival.

Action will. Don't like that idea? Well I hope you like kneeling to mecca a few times a day for pigs like her.

It took action to become the United States of America - it took action in all of our subsequent wars - and it will take ACTION now to survive.

On what basis am I to believe anything she says? She obstructed the hearings by failing to disclose her memo that gets at the heart of what's being investigated.

Vile, you mean like this?

Commssioner Gorelick,

For the good of the Commission you must resign. Even if your conduct has been blameless, the apperence of impropritey seriously damages the crediblity of the Comission. You are CLEARLY in conflict of intrest on a number of counts. YOU MUST resign for the good of the Comissiojn

She has been "outed" and does not like it. She may have received death threats. But more likely just nasty emails.

This sounds like garbage to me. But it should be investigated by the proper LEO authorities ASAP. At least now they can communicate with each other now.

BTW, only a moron would email or telephone a death threat to this woman. If she actually was threatened law enforcement should be able to easily track the people involved down. Unless there is some old Gorelick memo out there somewhere that stops them. /sarcasm off

Speaking of death threats. President Bush and his family will never ever be safe as long as they are alive. For the rest of their lives they will always be surrounded by security because the Islamic Nazis want them dead. By taking the fight to the enemy George W. Bush has marked himself for death. And the death threats against him are very real. But does he say a thing about them? Nope!

It is beneath us and we don't do this crap-we just get blamed and flamed. Pretending to be threatened and blaming Republicans, is, was and always be SOP for the stinking, win at any cost Democrats.

These type charges can't be defended against, can't be proven, can't be dis-proven.

Like push polls, another ploy invented by the liberals, you can bet the farm on the fact that the victem apparent, is in reality the perp.

Did you hit your head on the pavement this morning when you fell off the turnip truck ?

there is absolutely NO excuse for making death threats to her.

At this time, there is absolutely NO PROOF of anyone making legitimate** death threats against her.

Alleging "death threats from conservatives" is a favorite diversionary ruse used by the Left whenever they get caught doing something illegal or corrupt.

**(By "legitimate" I mean a genuine threat, and not some staged threats concocted by the "victim" and/or her supporters.)

I'm no police investigator, but can't they check the phone records to see who called in this "bomb threat" to her?

Also, it should be easy to trace the "very vile e-mails" she received (assuming they ever existed in the first place).

Were the death threats because of her attempts to direct the 9/11 commission away from the truth, or because she was responsible for making the US vulnerable to al Qaeda, leading to the 9/11 attack?
