That is physically impossible! Hmm.. I can't decide what I'm looking at but what I know I'm not looking at is a clockwise spinning hurricane in the Northern Hemisphere. It's just not possible unless the axis of the planet is moving!

And thus begins the next Ice Age. I guess I better start moving south.
To: Tropicalwatcher
Well that does look unusual...
Being so close to the equator the forces that cause a low pressure system to spin one way or the other are pretty weak. The nearby wind patterns must have been stronger than the forces caused by the differences in the earth's relative surface velocity due to its rotation and being spherical (I have no idea what the actual term is called but that describes it).

Well it is what 12 degree north? What if the circulation started south of the equator. A very slow circulation that built up into a storm as it headed north.
Would you expect it to stop and turn the other direction as it crossed the equator? I do not know but could this explain it?

I'm not 100% certain, but to my recollection a tropical system can't cross the Equator because the Coriolis Effect will tear it apart. That link is distressing me.. :)

yes. We are all going to die.
It is a new mass extinction... and that means us.

And thus begins the next Ice Age. I guess I better start moving south. But if this is evidence of a polar shift, by moving south, you'll actually be going north.

Why isn't anything on the weather channel about this. It's just like last night, I never heard anything on the news about whatever crashed in Kentucky.

It is close to the equator. The earth's rotational forces that cause a low pressure to spin one way or the other go to zero at the equator. Local wind currents could have applied stronger forces to the low pressure system when it formed causing it to spin the other way.

It should be named Kerry after the DIM candidate who doesn't know which way to spin and flip flops a lot. Watch it change direction.

I agree.

There was a comet or something. There is a thread on here about it. People said there houses shook and there were lights in the sky or fireballs.

Somebody whip out a compass and see which way the needle is pointing.
