TERRI SCHINDLER-SCHIAVO DAILY THREADAPRIL 19, 2004 FORWARD
April 19, 2004 | floriduh voter

Posted on 04/19/2004 2:05:56 PM PDT by floriduh voter

Persistent and Loyal Friends of Terri and of the U.S. Constitution,

I'm home from today's hearing which was held at the Criminal Courthouse Complex on 49th Street, Clearwater before Judge W. Douglas Baird.

Once I collect my thoughts from today's hearing which just adjourned about a half an hour ago, I'll post them here. Initially, I wasn't going to do any reporting re: the hearing but it was enlightening.

I learned today in the hallway that Terri's parents, siblings and other relatives are still unable to see her some three weeks later due to the criminal investigation of what may have been mosquito bites. But, that's a different legal matter.

And, then King goes RIGHT on to talk about his own 'legacy' again. Now, someone is talking about what a swell guy he is.

Swell. Yeah, right. SWOLEN, maybe. But not swell.

Have you been watching the live video from the "getgo"? The legislators believe King is THE KING! I will find the video in archives and watch it again when I have had time to chill out.

ROTFL!

Pigs are intelligent, valuable, and have many important uses. King -- uh, wait a minute -- Jim King isn't like that at all.

"And, then King goes RIGHT on to talk about his own 'legacy' again. Now, someone is talking about what a swell guy he is."

King always talking about his legacy is the most arrogant thing I've ever heard in my life.

From now on, Jim King's "legacy" will be this:
He wanted protection for mistreated animals. He wanted death by starvation for mistreated people.

" GOP HELP TERRI or Constitution Party Here I Come)"

Your tagline reminds me how the RINO's have pushed me to the brink of switching to the Constitution Party over several issues. Especially since this January. This might be the one that does it.

I know I'd rather jump off a bridge than vote for Kerry. But if the GOP fails to even try to come through for Terri, the Constitution Party might get my vote.

My friend, I contacted Johnnie Byrd's office this a.m. and talked to his Assistant Ed Howard. JOHNNIE BYRD will be reading the garbage remarks as per the St. Pete Times. I told Ed Howard that JIM KING wasn't clear as if HE WAS INSULTING TERRI SUPPORTERS, FLORIDIANS OR ALL PEOPLE IN GENERAL. Further, I mentioned about the dogs being God's beings.

The upshot is that THE SENATE BACKED OFF and withdrew SENATE BILL 692 which would benefit disabled Floridians like Terri. Before that was even COLD, they hold a special session TO PROTECT THE ANIMALS. I think we know who the real BEAST is here!

Senator King is adamant that government should never be involved in such extremely personal family/court/God decisions.

The Senator is a very wise man.

Thank you for contacting Senator King.

Well, then Senator supports DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, DISCRIMINATION, EMBEZZLEMENT, FRAUD, EMOTIONAL HARASSMENT AND INTIMIDATION and many more. I think that JIM KING should be the fall guy and I recommend that we hound our other legislators that HE SHOULD RESIGN. Whether they force him out or not, I"ll be making more calls tomorrow.

>>Senator King is adamant that government should never be involved in such extremely personal family/court/God decisions.<<

Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I thought that personal family/court/God decisions might include parental notification of minors who are having abortions (oops, I mean medical "procedures"). I thought the government that King is referring to felt every right to step in on that issue. The same people who legislate that schools need to contact parents to administer tylenol or advil, yet will give permission without parental approval to allow a minor to undergo an abortion. Wow! The hypocrisy is numbing!

>>The Senator is a very wise man.<<

Not in my book!

Damn, where's my barf bag when I need it?

Well, Becky, I beg to differ. If the laws are such that a defenseless person can be put to death by the whim of an estranged spouse - when there is no evidence of such a wish nor a life-ending condition, I think we have a problem.

I will also point you to the Florida statutory definition of "persistent vegetative state" under the 744 codes. No where in that particular statute do I read any reference to a doctor's diagnosis or recommendation. So, I would assess that particular statute is, indeed, the government getting involved in personal family/court/God decisions.

One set of standards will do just fine, thanks.

That statute is unconstitutional on its very premise and King will not even allow Floridians to fend for themselves under it?

He's pathetic. As is anyone who defends him. You give him my comments and I shan't trouble you again.

State of Florida Commission on Ethics

http://www.ethics.state.fl.us/

Welcome to the official homepage of the State of Florida Commission on Ethics. Florida has been a leader among the states in establishing ethics standards for public officials. We recognize in our Constitution that a public office is a public trust and the people have the right to protect that public trust against abuse.

This site was designed to make it easier for Florida public officers, employees and citizens to access information on the ethics laws. Everything from Ethics Commission history to recent decisions, opinions, press releases, forms, and publications can be accessed via the links to the left on this page.

The Florida Commission on Ethics is a nine-member Commission, with a staff of approximately twenty employees located in Tallahassee, that serves as the guardian of the standards of conduct for officers and employees of Florida and its political subdivisions and functions as an independent commission responsible for investigating and issuing public reports on complaints of breaches of the public trust by public officers and employees. The Commission also renders legally binding advisory opinions interpreting the ethics laws and implements the State's financial disclosure laws.

The Commission, by majority vote, interprets and applies Florida's ethics laws by taking action on the disposition of complaints, the recommendation of penalties, and the issuance of legal opinions. Also, the commission hires the Executive Director, recommends changes in the ethics laws to the Legislature, and adopts rules of procedure and an operating budget.

The Commission on Ethics cannot conduct investigations of alleged violations of the Sunshine Amendment or the Code of Ethics unless a person files a sworn complaint with the Commission alleging such violation has occurred.

If you have knowledge that a person in government has violated the standards of conduct or disclosure laws or has committed some other breach of the public trust, you may report these violations to the Commission by filing a sworn complaint on a form promulgated by the Commission. Otherwise, the Commission is unable to take action, even after learning of such misdeeds through newspaper reports and phone calls.

The Code of Ethics for Public Officers and Employees

The Code of Ethics for Public Officers and Employees, adopted by the Legislature as Part III of Chapter 112, Florida Statutes , contains standards of ethics conduct and disclosures applicable to public officers, employees, candidates, lobbyists, and others in Florida State and local government, with the exception of Judges. (The ethical standards for Judges of Florida's judicial branch are contained in the Code of Judicial Conduct, adopted by the Florida Supreme Court.)

The "Sunshine Amendment"
The "Sunshine Amendment," adopted by Florida votes through a constitutional initiative in 1976 as Article II, Section 8, Florida Constitution, contains standards of ethical conduct and disclosures applicable to public officers and employees; it also requires the Legislature to adopt the code of ethics described above.

Standards of Conduct for the Public Service Commission and the Public Service Commission Nominating Council
Sections 350.031 - 350.05 & 350.0605, Florida Statutes, contain standards of conduct that apply particularly to members and employees of the Public Service Commission and to members of the Public Service Commission Nominating Council.
