This kind of stuff sure makes you question what the news folk report. Print, radio, and t.v. news, they all lie to try to sell advertising and make money.

Yep - It's a newspaper for the sheeple, that substitutes real news with bright pictures, colors, and worthless polls.

I don't get it.
Jurgensen's taking the fall for one of her reporters?
If Kelley did the plagiarizing and stuff, why is Jurgensen resigning ?
Sure, she should have been more suspicious, but why is she resigning?

I notice that McPaper is a little less than forthcoming on precisely what the fabricated stories were.

Probably something that we'll be happy to hear was nothing more than an alarmist invention.

Perhaps she and Kelley are cashing in on the Jason Blair Phenomenon: admit you're a plagiarist and a fraud and then rake in the big bucks with book and movie contracts, while become a talk show and liberal social circle celebrity.

It actually is indicative of the decline of the 4th estate.

Since reporters ceased reporting the facts, in order to win awards and acclaim, they fabricate stories.

I blame this on the liberal media. Facts are no longer relevant. This guy probably pissed someone off.

Asked about the role of Kelley in Jurgensen's resignation, spokesman Steve Anderson said, "You're going to have to read into it what you're going to have to read into it. Unfortunately, my hands are constrained at this time as to what I can say."

Awww, that's so cute . . . he knows sign language.

You know, I was just about to post links from the latest issue of American Journalism Review, which features Karen Jurgensen on the cover with the headline "How Good is USA Today?", along with the title of another piece called "Jack Kelly and the Truth". However, for some strange reason, their website is down at this time.

Will someone please post an article notifying me when the press prints something truthful and acurate ?

Finding examples of plagarism and bias in the press is like shooting fish in a barrel ;-)

Media Schadenfreude ping - Karen Jurgensen Another Victim Of Jack Kelley's "Reporting"?

Kelley was guilty of a 1999 front-page story on evidence of ethnic cleansing in Kosovo

On, Off, or grab it for a Media Shenanigans/Schadenfreude/PNMCH ping:

I believe they became suspicious when he reported that Ohio State Defeated FSU in the Rose Bowl this year. The score he reported (OSU 742, FSU 0)is what made them a bit doubtful of his veracity!

He, he, he--
