Robbery suspect didn't bank on exploding dye pack

FORT WORTH - Police say it was not lady Luck's lucky day.

Sharon Ann Luck, 43, was arrested by police and FBI agents Wednesday morning after she robbed a Fort Worth bank, police say, and then went to her Burleson bank to deposit the stolen money.

Bad luck.

A dye pack in her purse exploded.

Robbery Detective Mike Baggott said that shortly after 9 a.m. a woman walked into the Bank One, 6351 Camp Bowie Blvd., and handed a teller a note demanding money. After the teller complied, the woman fled with the note, an undisclosed amount of money and an unexpected surprise -- a dye pack with a delayed reaction.

"We're assuming the dye pack malfunctioned in the Bank One," Baggott said.

While investigating the Fort Worth robbery, police were notified by Burleson authorities that a woman had just walked into the First National Bank in Burleson when a dye pack in her purse exploded.

"She already had an account at the bank," Burleson police Sgt. C.P. Aaron said. "She may have just been attempting to deposit the money."

The woman fled but was arrested a short time later at a Fort Worth Home Depot after she called her boyfriend asking for help. The boyfriend got in touch with the bank.

"He called wanting to know if she had been in there and what had happened," Aaron said.

You might say she was caught red-handed.

Luck was being held Wednesday afternoon in the Tarrant County Jail on a federal hold.

Bad Luck.

Maybe she was trying to quick-finance an extreme makeover.

I remember hearing an old story about a group of bank robbers that went into a bank and stole nothing but the dye packs, they took about 30 of them. They then jumped int the car and a few seconds later blew the top of that convertable. Needless to say they did not get far.

Prime Artist: Frank Sinatra
Arranger: Billy May
Written by: Frank Loesser

From the Film: Guys And Dolls 1955 (M)

Lyrics:

They call you lady luck
But there is room for doubt
At times you have a very un-lady-like way
Of running out
Your on this date with me
The pickin's have been lush
And yet before the evening is over
You might give me the brush
You might forget your manners
You might refuse to stay
And so the best that I can do is pray
Luck be lady tonight
Luck be lady tonight
Luck if you've been a lady to begin with
Luck be a lady tonight
Luck let a gentleman see
Just how nice a dame you can be
I know the way you've treated other guys you've been with
Luck be a lady with me
A lady never leaves her escort
It isn't fair, it isn't nice
A lady doesn't wander all over the room
And blow on some other guys dice
Lets keep this party polite
Never get out of my sight
Stick with me baby, I'm the guy that you came in with
Luck be lady tonight
A lady never flirts with strangers
She'd have a heart, she'd be nice
A lady doesn't wander all over the room
And blow on some other guys dice
Lets keep this party polite
Never get out of my sight
Stick with me baby, I'm the guy that you came in with
Luck be lady tonight
