I don't have any issue with either one getting some moneyto make up for their misery personally speaking.

Is it just me that wonders what someone would write (post #6) to a topic like this one that would be deleted? It would perhaps make sense in a controversial thread, but this one?

Jessica Lynch never wanted this meeting to be in the news. She didn't want it to be a media circus/publicity stunt. This private meeting happened in early April and is just reported now. If it were up to Lynch, I think it would never have been reported at all. No comment from her or her attorney in the article, just remarks from Mohammad. He just happened to have a book signing in Huntington WV. Well, good for him, he learned to be a good capitalist.

Strange there is no word from her, but assuming he's been on the up and up the whole way it's good that he can support himself. :^)

I see your sign-up date is Nov '03. Had you been lurking last year between April and about July, you would've seen some very nasty stuff from the knuckle-draggers. :^)

Yes, Jessica Lynch has been a controversial figure here. Post #6 was in resonse to #4, which was a slight slam against Lynch, so maybe this was an overzealous Lynch defender.

#4: Lynch meets rescuer

Yeah, it's about time. Woman should not be in combat positions. And clean that rifle.

I wonder what #6 wrote? Maybe Hacksaw knows; did you go and get somebody's dander up?

I'm not surprised that there was nothing from Lynch on this. She's always said that she wanted to meet Mohammad privately. The press threw a tantrum because they wanted an Oprah moment. Nice to see the press lose a round once in a while.

Don't you hate it when you see a post removed before you see what it said? :^) Since this is a Lynch thread I'm glad I didn't see it though. Someone may have been "expanding" on Hacksaw's point rather than going against Hacksaw.

Ah...I think I can guess what direction that may have gone from there. Thanks.

Once I found FR I didn't lurk long before I signed up, so I must have missed the uglies that transpired previously. For a laugh, every once in a while I peek in at DU...just about every other post is a delete or obscenity.

Unfortunately, that is a pretty strong possibility. Oh well, at least the moderators are on the good guy's (or gal's) side.

If, yes, I guess we'll have to leave it in mystery.

This is interesting and disturbing: It seems Mohammad's 6 year old daughter Abir had a lung stolen from her by Iraqi doctors for the child of a Baath Party honcho. Nice docs they have there, they really treat their patients well.

Abir was diagnosed with tuberculosis a few years ago. Iraqi doctors removed a lung. Her father later found the doctor lied because a senior Baath Party leader had a daughter who needed a lung. - http://www.democratandchronicle.com/news/0429GM430CP_news.shtml

Better news: Thomas Hamill, the truck driver being held captive in Iraq has escaped! - http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1128162/posts

How terrible.

Good for Hamill though!

Ms. Lynch was at the White House Correspondent's Dinner last weekend. Strange that Drudge didn't mention her on his radio show last Sunday night; he was there. There's a not-bad Washington Post Story about the event with a mention of Jessica. She got to meet the President and Deputy SecDef Wolfowicz. Some photos too:
