True story:

This morning I woke up to my wife pushing me and asking what time it was.

I was still asleep and dreaming, but I remember it went like this:

Wife (unknown person in dream): Who is that? (she really asked "what time is it?")
Me: Britney Spears.
Wife: (unknown person in dream): Who is that?
Me: BRITNEY......SPEARS!
Wife: What time is it?
Me: Uhh...uhhh.....5:50

For the life of me, I can't remember the dream I was having. But I have a good idea who was in it.

I agree with you. The problem is he made two distinct points: the first one blaming dress codes because they did not improve his education and the second which is to not change the dress code till it is enforced. My comment was directed at his stupid first point; the second I agree with and I believe you do too.

Anyone who posts in Free Republic and doesn't see the pathetically extreme disconnect from reality in this statement, should stop posting

AAAAARRRGGHH AAHHHHHGGGG!! DisconnectION DISCONNECTION!!!! Disconnect is a VERB!!! This is an ACTION you TAKE! You DISCONNECT someone or something!!! The noun is DISCONNECTION!! DISCONNECTION!!!

God how our language is taking a beating!!! You might as well be speaking Swahili or Spanish!!!

And the word "data" is a plural noun. The proper usage is "the data say" not "the data says."

A very old photo of Katie Sandwina in late teens or early twenties. Proof you don't need to be a porker to avoid being skinny.

Take your pills, man

ahem.

Perhaps my reaction was little over the top.

But this was not like "loose" or "series." Too many people beleve that "disconnnect" is acceptable as a noun. This is another skirmish in the overall assault on the English language. "Disconnect" as a noun is up there with "defensed" as a word or "out of pocket" in place of "unavailable."

Silly jargon is frequently used to make under-educated people appear to be "sophisticated." When I interview people and I hear them use "disconnect" as a noun, I immediately "disconnect" them from the job opportunity. There have been three prospects which I have disconnected from potential employment in the last year as a result of their cavalier attitude.

Either proper English matters or it doesn't. I am in a profession which abuses our language on a regular basis. But I will not be a willing participant in this degeneration. I suggest you do the same.

Man, I'd hate to work for someone as tightly-wound as you, considering that "disconnect" as a noun appears in the Merriam-Webster dictionary:

Main Entry: 2disconnect
Function: noun
: a lack of or break in connection, consistency, or agreement

Get over it already1. This isn't France.

1Main Entry: al·ready
Pronunciation: ol-'re-dE, 'ol-"
Function: adverb
Etymology: Middle English al redy, from al redy, adjective, wholly ready, from al all + redy ready
2 -- used as an intensive [all right already] [enough already]

LOL -- you footnoted the wrong usage of "already" -- you were using the second one.

I'm really not that tightly wound -- it's that I am watching English degenrate into a gutter language. M/W is no help -- they keep putting slang in.

My point is that as the language degenerates it becomes more difficult to communicate since the words now mean what the author want them to mean -- they have no intrinsic meaning.

Look at how Klintoon manipulated the word "is." The word "hero" is gone now -- and there is no replacement. How do I describe a "hero" now? I have no word.

If we already had a perfect noun for "disconnect" why allow another one? This isn't simply a matter of a synonym -- this is an exact match and is lingustically redundant.

Oh well -- it is a loosing battle. I guest it just aint that series.

btw: good morning.

Three of the most useless things in the world: boobs on a dyke, balls on a fag, and the opinion of a teenager.

I was thinking the same thing (about the teenager), but the colorful way in which you expressed the idea is priceless!

I remember tube tops too. I hated the way they squashed your boobs...and the needed to be pulled up constantly. Halter tops were much more flattering.

"I'm five-ten, but I have a smaller frame than I appear to. When I'm an honest 10, which is about 135 for me (so maybe 15 or 20 pounds to go), the designers I like think I'm an 8, and that works just fine."

I'm five-six, small frame. When I'm at 125 or so I wear an 8 when I buy moderately or inexpensively priced clothing, say J.C. Penney, Target. I can fit comfortably into a 6 in the pricier, designer lines of clothing.

I personally believe it is because those who design clothes for women are sex obsessed (and many are degenerates, sexually) with absolutely no moral grounding or respect for our Republic, so they promote debauchery and licentiousness, sexual amorality and self-worship, and exploit the sexual vulnerability of young people. Teens years are especially competitive, and now it is all about sexual competition, displaying one's 'equipment' with a come hither style. Conflicting that is the obsequious liberal crap of 'you must stop at 'NO' and 'homosexuality is a normal alternate sexual choice'. To put it another way, degenerates are determining the direction of our society as the family unit falls to 'diversity' and hedonistic pursuits by parents, fueled by the degenerates who profit from the planned decline.

I was in Wal Mart yesterday. A likely pretty young teen girl and her friend sauntered down one isle dressed in clothing that smacked of trolling for sex to raise the cash to make their next crack cocaine buy. It is difficult to see them as wholesome when they advertise degeneracy, but their clothing is being designed and marketed by degenerates, so it is to be expected.

I still haven't seen enough pictures of scantily clad highschool girls to convince me there's a problem.

It's one thing if they have the right shape for the low cut pants --- but many of the highschool girls here are working on baby-number-two --- stretch mark-city and maternity bellies hanging out of the low-cut pants --- with thongs. It's gross. Then their 30 years plus mothers who look more like 50 also have the same clothes and even more stretch marks. You get the apple shaped women thinking they look sexy in these clothes.

I don't think a whale bone corset would have been necessary in that particular case. The woman in that picture was about 6-1, 225 - 230, and could put 300 lbs on a bar and do military presses with it.
