The protocol here is when you post an article, you excerpt a portion of it to your post, thereby allowing others to get a little preview of the whole article. Just posting a string of links really doesn't do it.

From the MSNBC article:

Stark would not comment on the message to NBC11 news.

However, a report in the Argus newspaper quoted him as saying he got his point across.

Only if his point was that he is an idiot.

"Staff Sgt. Dan Dow, who is a member of the National Guard, said he wrote a letter to Stark criticizing the legislator's recent vote against a resolution condemning the abuse of Iraqi prisoners."

NBC, as usual, makes its best effort to get it wrong.

The resolution had TWO parts - one of which was COMMENDING the troops in Iraq. This was why the Sgt was upset 49 Democrats voted against it.

The article makes it sound as if he was upset because the Congressman WOULDN'T critcize the troops.

Good memory! Here is a quote:

In it, he quoted Stark as saying to McInnis, "You little fruitcake, you little fruitcake, I said you are a fruitcake." And, according a Republican leadership aide, the 72-year-old Stark called Thomas a vulgarity.

If Pete Stark worked in any other employment category than "elected official", he would have been fired and tossed out on his butt.

How this guy keeps in office is just amazing...

Good, I hope he gets his @ss run out of Congress!

No chance - from what I've heard about Fortney's district, all this will do is substantially increase his margin of victory in November, assuming the Republicans can even find someone to run against him.

After getting his ass whipped in the cafeteria by his former co-workers.

It was on NBC News today...a cousin of mine told me about it in Maine. I guess the NBC11 affiliate (link below) forwarded the news item to NBC Network affiliates who can pick it up if they want to. But other than that, the "left leaning" media probably won't give it much play. If it were a republican...well, that's another story!

Stark was one of only 3 to vote against "Under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance. http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=1516 "On Thursday the House of Representatives voted 416 to 3 to denounce the court ruling. Three Democrats voted against the Pledge of Allegiance – Michael Honda (D.-Calif.), Robert Scott (D.-Virginia), and Fortney Pete Stark (D.-Calif.).
