I'm starting to see why this prisoner abuse deal happened. Maybe we see the first fruits of diversity training in the schools. Iraqis are being taught the tolerance for alternative life styles (and this will help to prepare them for democracy, secular worldview and freedom).

When I read the headline, my first thought was about the democ-RAT use of the word.

Does this appear to be the face of a moral and ethically highly motivated person? Note particularly the repitilian eyes. If we can safely dismiss moral outrage as a reason for whistle blowing then why? A crypto-rat, perhaps? Someone score settling, not unlikely? Someone looking for thier 15 minutes of fame to turn into a tv movie deal, quite likely. And finally someone possessing some highly marketable pictures.

Maybe this guy is not a hero at all, maybe he is caching in with dollars for the pics.
We should reserve judgement and calling him hero is premature until we get all the info on this guy...I didn't want to say anything previously, but I know a former member of this unit. This person states that Darby is untrustworthy and a POS.

Whatever the guy is doing in his personal life, he did do the right thing and blow the whistle on what was going on. He notified superiors when he could have easily went shopping around for buyers from the media.

True....something tells me that he is going to make money anyway. Book deals and everything that goes with that.

So they dated for a month or so in 2002 when Darby could have been separated from his wife. He could have reconciled with his wife by telephone or not. Two thing are sure, he's been busy elsewhere and this little tart has no claim on him.

The MTV generation gets its 15 minutes on the world stage and I can't tell it apart from a Jerry Springer show. Or, maybe a Congressional hearing? Wait until this guy gets his turn at the microphone in the Senate. Expect our side (maybe even Lieberman on their side!) to kick the crap out of him over his motivation.
I've decided I like the so-called "abuse" scandal, for one thing, our President is winning, and it keeps Kerry in the background. It's important that he not self-destruct completely until after the Rat convention, and there's still plenty of time for that. It helps us separate those who think our troops are all "baby killers" (to use an old Vietnam-era slur) from those who back our people up.
