In Hong Kong, sunlight decreased 37 percent. It probably happened abruptly right after the Communist takeover. HMMMM... We know that in the aftermath of the explosion of Krakatoa, there was a period of global *cooling* due to all the dust injected into the stratosphere. In fact, the severe winter of 1812, when northern New England had no summer at all (the snow stayed on into July), was due to a volcanic explosion with dust injection. SO... (Paging Algore... PAGING Mr. Algore...) how are we going to manage to keep panicking over global warming, in the light (pun intended) of all this?????

In related news, I recall that the hill down the street from my parent's house used to be enormously steep. My only explanation is that the earth used to be smaller. When i was younger, I recall the snowfall tended to be deeper...or was I shorter?

"I have a very strong feeling that probably solar radiation is increasing during the last 14 years," he said. He based his hunch, he said, on a reduction in cloud cover and faster melting rates in glaciers. So, if solar radiation is increasing, global warming is the sun's fault, not ours.
Stop global warming, pollute more. Ha!!!

When they get that old sun polished up and shining bright again, maybe they could get Mars, Hershey's and the other confectioners to bring back candy bars in the big kid size they used to be! That nickle price can come back too!

So is global cooling then, ok.......HELP HELP THE SKY IS FALLING THE SKY IS FALLING.

No one is predicting that it may soon be night all day... I see the Times is still writing stories at the kindergarten educational level of its readership.

"In general, we don't really understand this thing that's going on,"
But we're sure the solution is "more government regulation."

Indeed, I came across a story in Scientific American within the last year that also stated that solar radiation, as measured by satellites, has been increasing since the late 1970s.

You shouldn't spend so much time staring at the sun.
It is quite possible for air pollution to dim the sun without affectiong the total warming effect of the sun. The energy has to go somewhere. It either heats the air or the surface.

A combination of global warming and darkening should be great news for mushroom growers.

No problem. We'll just get a bunch of street lights and rig them to solar panels and . . . . oh wait . . . . nevermind.

Was that the same time period that I read about when it was so cold that Niagara Falls actually froze?
That would be verrrry strange.
