Doctorow's Malpractice (BAM! Peggy Noonan Nails It AGAIN -- !)

Did you hear about the college commencement speaker who was almost booed off the stage Sunday because his commencement address was an anti-Bush rant? The speaker was E.L. Doctorow. The college, God bless it forever, was Hofstra University on New York's Long Island.

Newsday reported that Mr. Doctorow--or, as Newsday put it in the first paragraph, "E.L. Doctorow, one of the most celebrated writers in America"--gave a 20-minute address "lambasting President George W. Bush and effectively calling him a liar." It didn't go over too well. Mr. Doctorow announced to the crowd that he himself is a storyteller. But the president too, he said in a flight of dazzling cleverness, is a storyteller. The president's stories are not so good thought "because they are not true."

The whole event instills more confidence in me for a huge Bush win. The media is so oblivious to what the real American is feeling.

It reminds me of some NY/DC liberal elitist Newspaper publisher who remarked her complete surprise at Reagan trouncing Carter. She said all the people she knew voted for Carter. Never occurred to her that others didn't think like her.

More recently, here in Georgia it was a done deal that Roy Barnes, democrat incumbent was coasting to victory in 2002. The newspaper stories on Barnes the day before election recounted how he didn't even need to spend all the money in his war chest. He lost decisively.

I'll take the reactions of a Long Island audience over any CBSNBCABCCNN poll any day.

What an ass, this guy is, i went to a graduation last week where NANCY PELOSI spoke. She wasn't political and if I wasn't so jaded by her personality I would have said that it was a good speech.

Who teh hell does this jag-off think he is. 'ragtime' sucked, BTW.
