See post 21 in this thread. I'm going to have to claim this kill or at least an assist.

Your suspicions seem to be right on the mark. I've witnessed this several times when I've been more reluctant to pass judgment. You've got better troll-sniffing genes than I do.

I also say more power to them...that's not the point. My point is a media that should keep some things quite when they know these stories would only inflame Arab perception. Even moderate Iraqis won't tolerate jewish participation because of their historical hatred. Somethings are better off not said...even if true. What value is there in revealing Israel participation except to add to the cynicism.

Welcome to FR!

Newsmax is a cool outfit, but they've been wrong before. This embarrassment is too stupid to be Israeli.

It wouldn't surprise me if Israel or Israelis is advising the US on interregating Arabs. Then again, I've got no problem with the interregation techniques used in Abu Gharib (spelling?).

The worst thing in Arab culture is public humiliation. I can think of no greater blackmail to gain information than to take pictures of Arabs in humiliating poses and threaten to spread the pictures around his family and home town.

If dressing a couple hundred Arabs up in womens' underwear can save even one American soldier's life, it was more than worthwhile. Screw public opinion. We're fighting a war.

Chuck, if it was up to me, you would get the kill. I didn't look at his profile, but anybody who signs up "tomorrow" is suspect. Wouldn't you have to be posting from overseas to get a signup date that is "tomorrow"? Not that all overseas posters are trolls, but many a ZOTTED thread was posted by someone who signed up "tomorrow".

Oh, let me help clean up this article- first we need to delete all unsourced, anonymously sourced, or iffy information to see whether or not there is any content to this piece- begining with the headline which of course has no verifiable supporting sources :

Abu Ghraib
Newswhax ^ | 5-24-04 | Karrl Limbacher

It should be noted that torture and mutilation are common techniques used by Arab countries on their prisoners.

Neither U.S. nor Iraqi diplomatic officials in NYC or Washington were available for comment.

In April an Israeli Arab working in Iraq was kidnapped and charged with spying.

Nabil George Yaakob Razouk, an Israeli Arab employed by Research Triangle International, a North Carolina-based firm under contract to the State Department, was abducted by Iraqi insurgents and said to be a spy.

Razouk, working on "local governance" advising, was seized in Najaf and held for more than two weeks.

The latest disclosures come as an Iraqi diplomatic team has temporarily canceled a visit to U.N. headquarters to consult with the Security Council about the modalities for the transfer of power expected on July 1.

Among the Council ambassadors with whom the Iraqis are expected to meet is U.S. Ambassador John Negroponte.

Negroponte will leave his U.N. post next month to become the new U.S. ambassador to Iraq, once the Coalition authority is dissolved.

***********************************

Hmmm. More content than a Reuters article, but still not what the headline originally implied.

Reading the orignal it seems that Carrl got his info from ARAB 'diplomatic sources.'

I'm not sure if this is right, but I think the signup date is Greenwich time. If you signed up right now, I think you'd have tomorrow's date.

LOL! I don't think unnamed sources are suspect in and of themselves, but they could at least narrow it down to a department that is in a position to know the truth of the matter, as in "a senior administration official" or "highly placed sources at the Pentagon". "Word in NYC diplomatic circles" and "one source familiar with the U.S. operations" just ain't gonna cut it.

Maybe it is, in which case most trolls don't wait a day to start posting bilge.

I'll admit that the tomorrow date was the primary thing, but the tone of his posts and the article just smelled bad. I'm glad Jim said he was "A vast rightwing conspirator". I hit abuse on that idiot many times and it took forever before he was finally banned. It's so funny how the paleo/liberal crowd love to bash on jews.

"Who has better experience in dealing with the Arabs than Israel?"

And who now has better experience at causing intense embarassment to their strongest ally?

If recent reports are true, our MPs were under the command of these Israeli loose cannons while Karpinski was busy doing her nails.

For once I agree with you;

Well, I've got a mild fever today, so no one should hold it against you.

this must be "Blame Everything On the Jews" week.....and it's really becoming quite obvious. You can't tell me all these smears against the Jews and Israel aren't coordinated.

Why should this week be different than any other?

He did sound like he was being particularly careful to seem like he's just some guy and went out of his way to say how much he trusts Newsmax. I didn't have my "troll-dar" on, and since he was being careful, I didn't notice. I was paying more attention to the journalistic flaws of the story, which are legion, IMO.

The suppositions in the article don't surprise me.

What surprises me is that you intended the post to bash Bush.

Most would expect the Israelis to give us a hand with these grim folks. I certainly would invite their help.
