I could say I'm a fan of George Kennan, inspite of the fact that I didn't have a chance to read none of his books, just articles and excerpts, and ofcourse his "long telegram".
This excellent man would (I hope will) turn 100 years if he's alive, and I just don't know if he is alive or not?
I live across the ocean, I'm not even from Europe, but from Balkans, and I'm not even muslim or croat or albanian, but Serb. So news travel very, very slow from US to here :-)

I'm a Foreign Service Officer. George Kennan, one of our own, is still alive at 100. The Foreign Service Journal recently dedicated a special issue to him on his 100th birthday.
Just ran a Google search. Apparently still alive, no obituary found.

There was an academic talking about George Kennan on C-SPAN within the last two weeks. He said that he had agreed with Kennan in the 1970's that he would write a biography of Kennan but would wait until after Kennan's death. They both felt that the biography would be more objective if the author didn't feel that the subject was looking over his shoulder, so to speak. He said that Kennan periodically apologizes to him for not dying yet.
