Secret Service is allowed to carry in D.C. as I'm sure are the D.C. police. Certainly the CIC should be allowed a weapon if not required, IMHO. This is truly a non-story for the anti-gun,thumb-sucking,whiney libs.

"The study the one where Bill Clinton held some of his infamous trysts with White House intern Monica Lewinsky has become a place where Bush keeps the memorabilia that hold special significance for him." ROTFLMAO...Bush has the pistol in there, but clintler was the one who had the accidental discharge!

Welcome to Free Republic, nummnutz.
I wasn't aware it was possible to connect that many non-sequiturs together.
How old are you?

That gun is a part of history and unlike the previous occupant of the WH would have done, it will be left there rather than spirited out in the dark of night.Speaking of thefts from the White House, I was there a few weeks ago and was amused to see that Bush has the two paintings the Clintons "took" hanging on either side of the door to the Oval Office.
Carolinamom was with me and even the Secret Service agent was laughing with her about it!
This is one of them:

By the looks of some of the posts on this thread, we really need him!

There certainly are snipers on the roof of the White House with GUNS.

Nope, Singing the The Battle Hymn of the Republic.
Singing happy birthday George, would remind me of George McGovern.

It's perfect that President Bush has the clinton-looted paintings beside the Oval Office door! His style of doing things reminds me of NC's state motto: "To be rather than to seem to be."
Bush's use of the adjoing room is much more appropriate than the lying pervert's was. (Wish we could have seen it when we were so close to it!!)
To: Carolinamom
I think clinton may have refered to it as the "whore room"...
*ducking*

It's clinton's fault that I misspelled adjoining as "adjoing." (Bout time to change that lib mantra!)

Ah, but he is an expert at taking the gun away from that guy and using it on him !! hehe!

I would hate to see a new member of FR use the name of Reagan, and turn out to be a troll.
If Bush had asked for the pistol, I would consider this in a different light. As a memento from the troops, I think it is great.

Our troops wanted our President to have this pistol. Get over it.

What happened to the good old days? My father-in-law who fought on Iwo Jima was officially permitted to bring back two fully functioning Jap rifles, a sidearm, and two samurai swords. And that was the standard deal, officially sanctioned.

Sources say that the military had the pistol mounted after the soldiers seized it from Saddam and that it was then presented to the president privately by some of the troops who played a key role in ferreting out the old tyrant. Well, I hope to heaven that the Military did a thorough background check on the President and made him wait the necessary 7 days before giving the gun to him.
