Feinstein Planning to Offer Semi-auto Ban as an Amendment Soon

Cox: During debate on the "Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act," the Senate passed an amendment by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) to extend Bill Clinton`s 1994 gun ban for another 10 years. Back in 1996, you were one of 239 House members who voted to repeal the ban. Why did you believe the law should be repealed then, and has anything during the past 10 years happened to change your opinion?

Rep. DeLay: I am and have been against the gun ban, because I believe it violates the Second Amendment, and nothing in the last 10 years has changed that. The Second Amendment states that "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed," and I don`t see enough support in the House to ensure passage of something that would so blatantly infringe on this individual right.

Congress won't be in session much longer (they still need to campaign, as we're not yet to the point of giving them lifetime appointments for the sake of "national security"), so I think the ban will sunset in Sept.

If the Kerry wins and the rats win Congress, there will likely be an outright ban on all semiauto rifles. They may or may not 'grandfather' existing ones, but the end result will be the same, if patriots sit on their hands.

If Bush wins, and the rats win Congress, the same will happen. Bush will sign any gun-control bill they pass.

I think if the Republicans can continue to hold the House, then a new bill will not pass, barring some 'super Columbine' event, like the one in your book.

I think it's going to be strengthened. Do you have Feinswine's proposed additions that she wants to add to the existing gun ban? IF she gets those added, it's going to be very bad.

Here's a list of the usual RINOs, IIRC.

I believe you can assume all the rats voted for the AWB. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. Fitzgerald declined to run for re-election this year, and all the others either have safe seats or are not up for re-election this year.

Nope. President Bush has already said that while he would reauthorize existing gun control, that he wouldn't sign additional constraints into law.

The AWB renewal is up 3 votes in the Senate. If Johnson continues to refuse to vote on it, then it is up by 2. If any of Snowe, Smith, or Gregg can be switched, then it is dead (VP Cheney breaks ties in the Senate).

Also, Senator Kerry would have to show up again for it to pass...and that could be swatted down with a single filibuster. Senator Daschle is also on the spot over this vote.

So even passage in the Senate isn't assured...much less getting by the House...and if the "renewal" contains any new gun control, then President Bush will veto it.

Ergo, I don't see it being renewed.

I think you're being much too pessimistic if Bush win's re-election IMHO. If he does win, he'll probably improve pubbie margins in Congress, and he can then say he has grown in office.

Thanks for the URLs. They worked like a charm. I sent emails to the NY State GOP and the NY Conservative Party about Schumer and Clinton voting to ban virtually all, if not all centerfire rifle ammo. I intend to send regular mail as well.

The original colonies would not have signed onto a general (central) government compact without this protection/guarantee in place.

Each and every federal employee that promotes, proscribes, or enforces limits on any ownership of arms by 'the people' is guilty of treason at the very least, and a cheerleader at worst, for the tyranny that will undoubtably arise in the vaccum of power created as a result. Their utopian version of a 'gunless' society is without clothes.

Oak trees, lamposts, and rope are the necessary ingredients to insure that the American ideal of self-government is not hijacked by those who ignore the original intent, while mistakenly elevating themselves to the height of those who fought tyranny firsthand and, as a result, designed remedies-- before unknown, to ensure it's ugly head would not rise again on our soil.

At quick glance, our American garden is rife with weeds. Their seeds were not deliberatly planted, yet they've sprung up as one might expect when their dormancy was disturbed by a 'stirring', such as we've experienced recently in Iraq. The Victory Garden during WWII is no different from today's. What is different are the amount of weeds being tolerated.

Really? I'm rather fond of the federal law that bans incarcerated felons from possessing firearms.

They pay their fine to society, yeah. There are a bunch of non-violent felons. You and I could act as a bumper against the violent kinds by being armed at all times and under no fear of prosecution, since we'd be simply expressing our 2nd ammendment right as planned originally.

Thing is, you better get your state on board, 'cause it seems the BOR doesn't apply.
