Ronald Reagan RIP
The man who won Cold War died today. He couldn't take it with him, but left his legacy to billions of human beings. He was characterized as an idiot, an automaton and charlatan by many of his critics. Yet none of his detractors, however polished and poised, have changed the world so profoundly as this one man. When the oldest cask is opened, And the largest lamp is lit; When the chestnuts glow in the embers, And the kid turns on the spit; When young and old in circle Around the firebrands close; When the girls are weaving baskets, And the lads are shaping bows; When the goodman mends his armour, And trims his helmets plume; When the goodwifes shuttle merrily Goes flashing through the loom; With weeping and with laughter Still is the story told, How well Horatius kept the bridge In the brave days of old. |

Don't know about anyone else, but I consider "RIP" to be disrespectful.

Take the time to lear about what it represents...it's most fitting.

It's outrageous how the presswhores over at CBS and NBC decided that a freakin horse race, a paid commercial and a hockey game were more important than Reagan's passing! I am ticked off a the literal bias the clymers have shown so far! When Kennedy Jr. was killed it was 7/24 NON-STOP talk on the tube! From the moment his plane went missing till the day they buried them! ONE OF THE GREATEST PRESIDENTS has expired and the pressWHORES don't give a S***! What a disgrace!

"Don't know about anyone else, but I consider "RIP" to be disrespectful."I feel sure that was not the sentiment Wretchard meant to convey.

Don't allow the media to spin Reagans death as they did his life. Go to the FR Reagan Vigils post and pledge to organize or attend a vigil in your area.

As a lifelong lover of horses, I bet President Reagan would be appalled at the very idea of the Belmont not airing because of his passing. He was the essence of humility, which is why he was so easily underestimated by so many.
Too bad Smarty couldn't win one for the Gipper. Godspeed, Mr. President.

The Reagan era certainly left it's mark on the world..Thank God for a truly wonderful one of a kind president! He is one whom I will always remember...I had just turned 18 when he first ran for president and was so excited to be able to vote for him...
I pray that America will be all that Ronald Reagan had hoped it would.

- When the goodman mends his armor,
- And trims his helmet's plume;
- When the goodwife's shuttle merrily
- Goes flashing through the loom;
- With weeping and with laughter
- Still is the story told,
- How well Horatius kept the bridge
- In the brave days of old.
- And how can man die better
- Than facing fearful odds,
- For the ashes of his fathers,
- And the temples of his gods.

I know what it means, it just seems to me that abbreviating "Rest in peace"" reduces it and the person it is directed toward.
To: StolarStorm
Sorry for being prickly over something so minor. Reagan had a special place in my heart and I'm a bit melancholy about his passing.
To: billorites
He couldn't take it with him He would not have wanted to. He left that legacy for us and for our posterity.
