This is a catch-up Dose. Captions will provide the summary of events. Photos will be in no particular order other than as they appear on Yahoo News.
GEM, thank you for the unexpected but hoped-for Sunday Dose. I've been longing to hear what the Dosers had to say, and to see some still pix of the past week.
Eventually, one of the ones I plan on getting published is in regards to my own families' legacy: Alzheimers.
My GGgrandmother had it (well, the grandkids said that she was a little crazy and slightly odd); my ggrandmother had it, and my grandmother/great aunt have the beginnings of it.
How I'll do it, I dunno. Maybe between now and then, something will come to me.
Re the picture with the president returning the salute to the Marine. I read the other day that before President Reagan, no president ever saluted.
Oh man, you have really caught it now
for asking exactly what I was wondering.
It is possible that with losing weight she didn't have anything suitable in black that fit, and with her husband's big bash the following day, didn't have time to have anything gotten ready? I don't know.
On a tangent to that, where I live, there are no conservative papers. There is the large daily, which is left to left-central; the freebie weekly, which is far left, and the little weekly suburban papers, which are nothing more than neighborhood social pages.
I'd be thrilled to get some clips from newsmax or Talon News, but we'll see what opportunities open up.
I have also Cable connection, but the connection to computer is seperate then to my TV. I tried to do a screenshot capture from one of the videos in FNC, from the service at the library site. The one as the sun was going down. Unfortunately it didn't work. The video went on and the scene changed
Yo, Cubby! I have a theory 'bout that.
They had their eyes closed while W was eulogizing Bush.
I think the forces of darkness in them simply could not stand to look through the windows of their corrupt souls to focus on all that light coming from the pulpit. Just the way those who love the light get all goosified while having to look at the clintons.
***Ok, I'm probably going to catch it for asking, but why did Barbara wear a light colored suit? I'm from DC, so I know it can be hot and humid and it was probably warm, even inside the Cathedral, but should she have worn the light colored suit? ***
NOPE! I wondered who advised her. But my reason may be different than yours. I saw a side view of Barbara on TV as she entered the cathedral and was stunned at how much weight she appeared to have gained. Then, here on the Dose today, I saw her in the dark top and white pants and people are saying that she has LOST weight. "Nuff said."
Let me know when you're finished, OK?
Since I was just saving them for me, not picking out any to post, I just kept hitting the capture button.
That left me with about 500 shots to go through to get the best ones.
Thanks for the help!
I would have loved seeing these events live, but I guess tapes will have to do......
****Hope everyone heard that the wings Bush 41 got today signaled 5 jumps with one being in combat!!!!
It is too bad that you didn't get to see it live, but at least you are getting the videos.
It was really amazing to see all of that.
Forgiven!
This was The Longest Day for me in posting a Dose. There were too many photos for me to sort and write up the editorial summary and put in time stamp sequence with a shaky pc system, so I just posted them in Yahoo order. Slowly.
Yes, that was so cool.
**Both Barbara Bush's are in the background of this picture!! Elder Barbara is sitting and the younger is standing next to her...
I hadn't noticed either Barbara. Thanks for pointing that out!
I'll tell you where I lost it big time, it was that "The Mansions of the Lord" song as Reagan's body was being removed from the National Cathedral. Most everyone probably knows by now that it's from "We Were Soldiers Once".
Words are here: http://www.angelfire.com/ny5/ItisPeke/VDay.html
***THE MANSIONS OF THE LORD***
To fallen soldiers let us sing
Where no rockets fly nor bullets wing
Our broken brothers let us bring
To the Mansions of the Lord
No more bleeding, no more fight
No prayers pleading through the night
Just divine embrace, eternal light
In the Mansions of the Lord
Where no mothers cry and no children weep
We will stand and guard though the angels sleep
Through the ages safely keep
The Mansions of the Lord.
