Eat the butter! Atkins' book says eating fat helps you burn fat. My doctor said it's the strangest thing but it's true. Atkins' book, _The New Diet Revolution_, explains it.
Hey, y'all :) I have a question: Did anyone else think that Michael was kind of left out, at least for the first part of the week? On the service on Wednesday, he was on the back row and he was never standing next to Patti or Ron. On Friday, he didn't seem to be as left out. It just kinda bothered me that they were shoving him out. And that the reporters found it necessary to add "adopted one" to his name every time they said it.
And he smilingly told GHWB to salute a lot when he handed over the Oval Office to him.
I'm finished posting now. Please do post your photos.
RE: Lady Thatcher--I'd never heard her speak before the eulogy. She was great! I just love that accent.
For awhile I was worried Gorbachev would get upset that he was talked about in everyone's eulogy, but he didn't seem to mind. It was neat that they all talked about what great things RR did, freeing so many people. HMMMMM any parallels with our President today, freeing people?
Has anyone heard any Dem. viewpoints on any of the eulogies? I just can't bear to listen to anything about OJ or much else today, so just watched "the jump" and haven't heard reactions from the funeral.
Something about he had to make one more tandem jump to qualify for the solo one.
Thanks for that info. I hadn't heard it and wondered why the two jumps today -- from watching "Band of Brothers" I learned that the future paratroops had to make five successful jumps before they got their wings and became *real* paratroopers.
I absolutely bawled my head off when they took the flag off that casket. My heart is just broken for Nancy, and for President Reagan as well, wishing he could have been himself the last 10 years. I am glad he has gone onto a better place, but Vice President Cheney spoke for all of us when he said that although we knew it was coming, it didn't make it any easier.
There you are! :)
Thank you Gretchen, so many wonderful pictures, I have cried off and on for 2 days!
It was not possible for these things to have been mere oversights, either by the media or the second Reagan family. The media said repeatedly that the camera placements were predetermined before the services, and at the DC service, Mike wasn't shown up close till Reagan's body was being removed. I was really unhappy about it. Not once did I hear anyone even mention that he existed till Friday, and only once on Friday did I hear it said that he is a talk radio show host. Fortunately he is a very humble man.
***I think the forces of darkness in them simply could not stand to look through the windows of their corrupt souls to focus on all that light coming from the pulpit***
Well, they certainly have the forces of darkness influencing them, and the Pres. certainly shines God's light!
That song is the saddest song I have ever heard, bar none. I was doing OK in that ceremony until that song, and I just couldn't stand it any longer.
hehe.
I felt so bad for him. Nancy Reagan's former press secretary (I think that's who it was) said she kind of resented Michael which I think is horrible. I really admire Mrs. Reagan but the way Michael was treated this week made me want to cry, especially since he so much wanted to be there for her. He wanted to comfort her that last time at the casket even though she hadn't seemed to want him there all week.
RE: Michael Reagan--it was commented upon a lot during the week. Patti and Ron are really liberal (Ron has said some really nasty things about Pres. Bush apparently) and Michael is a Christian. Some people commented that he was seated back further because he was with his family, and Ron and Patti have no spouses or kids (tells you something, doesn't it??)
At least the last time Nancy said goodbye, at the casket and the kids all came up to comfort her, Ron moved aside so Michael could hug her, too.
Thanks so much Gretchen .. I was looking at a lot of photos on Yahoo yesterday .. what a great week it's been.
I thought it was TERRIBLE how Michael was treated...like some kind of after thought!!! And I didn't like little Ron's speech...his dig at President Bush, after all President Bush just did for his father in the last week for his funeral...talk about a spoiled brat!@
I did notice that Ron had moved aside to let Michael comfort her and I thought that was very sweet. I did feel bad about how he was treated all week, but his eulogy was one of the best IMO.
I'll have to read the book again. It just seems carbs and butter and cream really make me gain weight.
