Hmm, it seems to me then that I missed the solo jump unless they showed the tandem jump at the same time
Yeah I saw that. I was really struck by how much he wanted to be there for her. He's been so left out all along yet he wanted to hug Mrs. Reagan. I don't think I could have been there for her if I were in his position.
The solo was this morning with no cameras...that showed the tape at least, I'm sure someone had a camera on him...but TV didn't show it, at least yet.
I know! His "eulogy" irritated me so much! What a brat...to use his father's death to bash the president. That's certainly no time to do that and I thought it was incredibly disrespectful both to President Bush and to President Reagan.
I heard that Patti and Ron are not Christians, at least not practicing. I think Michael was trying very hard (and tastefully) to draw them to God, in his eulogy. And yes, his was the best of the kids'.
I thought the ones at the cathedral were all very well done, too. I've said it before--it was so neat to see God in every part of the events.
Looks like GW was telling some stories about his dad.
Oh ok, that makes sense
I thought his was the best too. Ron used his as lecture time for Dubya and Patti's was okay but I don't recall anything really moving. Michael was so grateful and it was really touching.
No, you didn't miss it--he did a tandem jump this am to qualify for a solo jump, but then the winds were too high for him to make a solo jump, so he did antoher tandem one instead. Sorry if I wasn't clear!
Thanks, Gretchen, for the pics of the people after he jumped; I didn't know they were his grandchildren. It was neat to see both Barbara's there too.
He's clearly a practicing Christian man and knows it's not all about him.
Glad to see you here!
Guess who I have sitting on my lap? My new little calico cat. She's mostly white, with some black and orange. She's getting used to our dogs and house. Do you know, are cats born with the ability to purr, or do they have to mature to be able to? She's about 6-7 weeks old. She never purred when I visited her before we got her (at the dog training ladies house) but started to purr yesterday.
Absolutely!
Gretchen .. I was struck by that little escort done by GW at the funeral .. and how they squeezed hands while gazing at each other. I kept wondering if it had been planned the previous evening when the President when to visit with Nancy. I believe it was the outward appearance of a spiritual event .. the passing of the mantle of Reagan to GW. What say you ..??
And Michael seemed genuinely heartbroken. I felt so sorry for him. Ron and Patty did not seem as emotionally involved- especially Ron. It's too bad.
We were here on the Sunday right after Reagan died. It was dreary and rainy and cold, but we got a little thrill by talking to the Fox News crew who had interviewed GHW in the morning (did anyone hear his comments? I would love to know what he said).
And a little souvenir for me. :o)
oh I totally agree- the part about how he knew he was going to see him again in Heaven- and I don't remember what else he said but it left me with that feeling too- that he was trying to reach out to his family to draw them to Christ. Good luck, Michael. What about Nancy's faith? It seemed like President Reagan's was firm, but I don't know much about her.
I think cats are born being able to purr. But they have to be taught how to meow. We have two cats and neither of them can meow. Our big cat we found under our shed because someone had dumped him off. He was about three weeks old and he never learned how to meow, he just kind of squeaks. Our kitten also never learned how to meow because my brother got him from a friend who gave them away far too soon. She was only about three weeks old at the time too and she can't meow either. Weird, huh? They both squeak to be let out.
From the coverage I saw, the only person who made Mrs. Reagan genuinely smile or laugh all week was George W. Bush.
Exactly! He was so genuinely upset. Ron and Patti seemed more like "Oh well."
Of course the black is slimming, but I agree she does look like she's lost some weight.
I think someone said she admired her husband's convictions but she didn't share the firmness of them. It's sad. I don't know what I'd do without my faith.
