Chamberlain's house is now a museum that they're gradually renovating to the condition it was in when Joshua and Fanny lived there.

It was used as an apartment building for students and was really a mess when they started restoring it.

There are rooms dedicated to different phases of his life..........a Civil War room with his boots and sword, a room for memorabilia and pictures from his Governorship, etc.

They have found pieces of the right wallpaper and have created new wallpaper for the restoration and have the furniture that was actually there when they lived there.

The man was incredible. When you're in his house, you really get a sense of how remarkable he really was. I HIGHLY recommend going there sometime when you can make it alllllll the way across the country.

We found out this time that he would have run for Senator, and was really popular among the people, but didn't have the support of the Republican party because he thought too far 'outside the box.'

(I thought you'd appreciate the T shirt!)

You can call me Ruthy.

Virtually everyone knows my real name already! LOL!! *wink*

I kind of like it, since my name doesn't really indicate whether I'm male or female.

When you're in his house, you really get a sense of how remarkable he really was

That's what I thought would be the case.

Some famous architectural expert or historian said on TV that there are two homes of famous people in which he felt the presence of the former owners more strongly than any other (and he'd visited massive numbers of historical homes). The two men are Churchill and FDR. Every time I see a photo of Chamberlain's home, I have the sense of what that person on television said, that I'd feel his presence there, his imprint. Thanks for sharing that.

Psalm 100

1 Make a joyful shout to the LORD, all you lands!
        2Serve the LORD with gladness;
        Come before His presence with singing.
        3Know that the LORD, He is God;
        It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
        We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

        4Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
        And into His courts with praise.
        Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
        5For the LORD is good;
        His mercy is everlasting,
        And His truth endures to all generations.

Welcome Kitty...what took 'ya so long? Meow, meow.

Yeah, Michael did seem to have to thrust himself into the family unit. So very saaaad.

Now, this is gossippy, and I know you gals are not that type, but it's been mentioned here and there on the forum that Ron Jr. is homosexual...the marriage is a sham, that she's probably a lesbian.

Anyone have any FACTS about that?

I cannot imagine her not having a personal relationship with Jesus.
===
You know, I CAN. That was one thing that bothered me about them. She always seemed to hang out with people who are not known to be people of faith; in fact the opposite. Remember when she would see an astrologer? What was that all about? I mean, do Christians consult astrologers???? None that I know. So, it bothered me that he LET her. (I guess you can all tell that I firmly believe that the husband is the head of the house), yada, yada.

I was young and my family not involved in politics when Reagan was in office, so I don't remember much about her. But no, astrology certainly isn't Christian, is it? I pray the last 10 years (during which we havne't seen much of her) that she's seen the Light.

I'd like to correct something that the media has gotten consistenly wrong.

Bush 41 bowed to the cross, not to the casket of Pres. Reagan. It is called "reverencing the Cross" and is done before one crosses the main aisle, or as in this case, has come up the main aisle, but is going to the left.

George H. W. Bush is an Episcopalian, and this is commonly done in Episcopal Churches and coincidentally, the National Cathedral is an Episcopal Cathedral.

Just thought I should correct something that the media has consistently gotten wrong.

Dubya escorted Nancy Reagan the day she christened the U.S. Ronald Reagan. He did it with so much tenderness and concern for her that when he escorted her across the isle at the funeral, she probably felt that she was in gentle but strong hands and was grateful.
