RE: Long day for the Reagan kids--a long week, too. Patti has a really nice article in this weeks People mag--I cried when I read it (I'm not a big fan of hers, but it was a neat article).
Also, Brit Hume, who parachuted today also, said that he and his wife were so exhausted from the events of the week that they were asleep "before sunset" last night.
Oh GEM! I am so sorry. I didn't realize you still had pictures to post.
Please forgive me. I wasn't paying enough attention.
This past week was particularly emotional for me as my father, who was born in 1910, had a personality so similar to Reagan's: positive, kind, never a harsh word, enegetic, out-going. When I see Ronald Reagan's smile I see my father's - one that lights up a room. Well, here come the tears again, but good ones.
I finally worked my way back to June 9 and GUESS WHAT? Poppy's aerial stunt photos are here! Somehow this makes me think of Mary Poppins. ;-)
A picture of Barney could never be an intrusion. Still, missing Spotty.
Caption for above photo: "Former U.S. President George H.W. Bush comes in for a landing after performing a tandem parachute jump with Army Golden Knight Sgt. Bryan Schnell, on the grounds of the Bush Presidential Library in College Station, Texas June 13, 2004. It was the second of two tandem jumps Bush made on Sunday to celebrate his 80th birthday."
Aren't we live right now? :-)
(I've been trying to lose a little weight, and butter is a downfall of mine, esp. on popcorn. I will not eat popcorn without real butter. So I haven't been buying butter. I'm having a real craving today, and since we live in a small town, I can't jsut go to the store to get any real butter . . . ) :-)
Former President George Bush receives his jump wings pin from Sgt. Bryan Schnell, a member of the U.S. Army Golden Knights, after making a tandem skydiving jump with Schnell Sunday, June 13
Speaking of the perfect presidential look, you all wiil be delighted to see the photos of 41 in his parachuting suit, just after he landed and was talking to the Golden Knights. Hard to believe but he was the tallest of them all, and his features are classic - the chiseled look of romance novels..
Wow! What timing! While I was typing, sonmeone was posting the very shots.
Thanks. I know it isn't, but I was not sure if our host GretchenM is finished with the pictures for the Dose for today
Hello, Ohio! Long time no see! How was your vacation?
What a week, huh?
He is a remarkable, remarkable man!
I was reminded of the idiotic time mag cover when he was running in '92 that said "Wimp factor".............idiots!
If ever a man was NOT a wimp, it's GHW Bush..........and his son!
It was most unfortunate to be incomunicado during the past week........elder son was particularly disappointed as RR is his hero.
If anyone knows how to get tapes of the ceremonies of the past week, I'd love to know how to get a hold of them.
After he jumped he looked so young didn't he?
I was most impressed!
Yes, he did! I had to keep reminding myself that he was eighty.
Yes, perfect "president" pictures.
I hadn't seen the one of him and Nancy from that view. The look of love and compassion on his face is so personal, like no one else is around.
WOW...I didn't realize any world leader could be "smaller of stature" than Jordan's King Abdullah. He is almost tiny.
I've just LOVED the G8 meeting photos. Gave me more hope that things will be okay.
I was afraid I would miss the jump as we had a weather service about a thunderstorm coming in for our area and those warnings take several minutes. Thank God the warning was over when he jumped and I was able to see it all
