June 21, 2004--The conventional wisdom is that Senator McCain is off-limits to criticism. He is the quintessential hero--a decorated ex-prisoner of war in the Vietnam conflict. For awhile, the Kerry campaign flirted with the illusion that he could be added to the Democratic ticket as Kerry's running mate, making it a virtually unbeatable combination. To be sure, instant polls had a Kerry-McCain ticker winning in November in a landslide.
On June 19, before adoring troops at Fort Lewis, Washington, Bush received a full-bore endorsement from McCain, and, more importantly, a ratification of Bush's strategy in Iraq, including the obligatory "stay the course" rhetoric. The A.P. wire service reported this event, indicating that McCain's blandishments to Bush went far beyond the bounds of the merely perfunctory, and used language about the threats posed by terrorists and, before the war, by Saddam Hussein, "in words matching the starkest language Bush and Vice President Cheney have employed."

Probably write-in my vote! Though thoroughly disappointed in Bush, I am disgusted with Kerry.
I just don't get the affection for Dubyah...let me cite just one example of his incompetence as CinC: There is an old saying credited to Napolean (heard many times on G. Gordon Liddy's show) it goes, "When you set out to take Vienna, TAKE VIENNA!"
Apparently, that maxim is lost on Bush if the Battle of Fallujah is any example. How the hell can he justify losing fine Marine lives when he gives the order to pull back and let a former Iraqi colonel take over the operation?
Then there's the issue with troop numbers and his complete disregard for the need of more fighters (despite what you've heard, WE NEED THEM).
Nevertheless, I won't convince anyone on this thread...go drink the Koolaid, perhaps after suffering 4 years of Kerry you'll be convinced that Bush was the wrong man for the job...
"Is McCain a fraud?" is the wrong question.
Did the media perpetrate "fraud" on the American people during the 2000 GOP primaries? is the question.
And the answer is a resounding "YES".
As for the VP slot on the GOP ticket....there is only one voice that matters on this subject. The President's.
And George W Bush has made it crystal clear, Cheney's his VP.
The only people that question it are those that have been shut out of the Whitehouse, on both sides of the aisle.
Then you're part of the problem. Your write-in will hurt Bush (who disappointed you) and will help Kerry (who disgusted you). Thanks for nothing.
...let me cite just one example...
Do you really think the Democrats would have done any better? Get real.
...perhaps after suffering 4 years of Kerry you'll be convinced that Bush was the wrong man for the job...
And allow Kerry to nominate 2 or lifetime more Supreme Court justices and a slew of judges? (4 years?..Try 8 years). That's the misguided, Conservative death-wish mentality that elected the Clintons.
HELL NO!!
Bush/Rice is the ticket in 04, setting up Rice vs Clinton in 2008. I'll go for Rice/McCain in 2008. ..if McCain is still a republican.
Sorry, but just cannot see rewarding someone who's failed as badly as 43...and, although I'll hold my nose for the next four years, I do see hope if Kerry is elected: HE WILL BE SO BAD HE'LL MAKE THE GOP TAKEOVER OF CONGRESS IN 1994 LOOK LIKE A CAKEWALK BECAUSE VIRTUALLY EVERY LIBERAL DEMOCRAT LINKED TO HIM WILL GO DOWN IN 2006!
Don't take this personally, but that is the most idiotic, stupidest, short-sighted, POS statement we've seen in quite a while. But you already know that. Do you call yourself a conservative?
I do, but I use the term "moral conservative" because, after all, that is what conservatives are supposed to be! Accordingly, as such, I would never stoop to the sane offensive terms you used to describe my posting!
If the truth bothers you, you can always ignore it.
