Official questions voter rolls (outrageous blatant vote fraud exposed)
Nashville City Paper ^ | June 22,2004 | Craig Boerner

How can more than 50 active voters in Davidson County share the same non-residential address - a parking lot on 7th Avenue South?

Election Commission board member Lynn Greer asked that and several other questions at Monday's board meeting in scrutinizing the address verification program overseen by staff employee Kathy Deshotels.

Greer's probing sent Deshotels out of the room in tears after he told fellow board members that his analysis raised a "number of very serious questions concerning the integrity of the data and the completeness of the address verification program," which is required by state and federal election laws.

"Much to my dismay, I have concluded that the Davidson County Election Commission database of registered voters continues to be a ticking time bomb rife with nearly 40,000 opportunities for vote fraud that could lead to legal challenges in close election contests," Greer said.

Metro Legal attorney Lora Barkenbus Fox issued an opinion to commissioners that explains requirements for a person to establish a residence to vote. Fox concludes that a person may register by providing an address or a description of the location where he/she lives, "even if this location is a homeless shelter or a vacant lot. If he or she also gives a mailing address, it should be to an address that will accept mail on his/her behalf."

State law does not require a mailing address and Fox's legal recommendation is that the "address where you live" portion of a voter registration form must be filled out so the voter's precinct can be determined but the "address where you get your mail" can be left blank.

Greer presented several "findings" and questions for the office staff to consider before the July 21 meeting.

Deshotels' boss, Administrator of Elections Michael McDonald, said the appropriate personnel will go through Greer's document in a comprehensive line-by-line, street-by-street format to prepare a response.

"I have not had a chance to go through it to the extent that I had planned to," McDonald said. "I plan to go through it and meet with the appropriate personnel and provide a formal response."

Election Commission Chair Betty Nixon said Greer's presentation was unexpected and the board and staff had not had time to examine the information or prepare a response.

Deshotels' attorney, Ted Carey of Barrett, Johnston & Parsley, said it is his understanding that Greer's report was an "ambush" because Deshotels wasn't given an opportunity to see the material before the meeting.

"[Monday's] Election Commission meeting included what appeared to be a partisan attempt to publicly embarrass or humiliate an employee of the Election Commission," Carey said. "The Election Commission appears to be sinking into a partisan abyss. Commissioner Greer appears to be, at best, misinformed about the facts regarding which he was inquiring."

One of Greer's findings alleges that the voter database appears to be missing over 25,000 inactive voters.

Another finding questions why 11,111 returned address verification cards were not entered into the voter database.

He also claims as a separate finding that the database contains nearly 40,000 voters classified 'active' that should be 'inactive' because they failed to vote or update their registration cards for a period of two consecutive November elections.

We're headed into another big fight this year. Here in Michigan all kinds of problems were exposed on caucus night. Moving polling places, polling places that never opened etc.

As far as I know nothing has been done to correct the problems. Personally I think the democratic party has a vested interest in keeping this mess just the way it is. If the election is anywhere near close in Mi. i fully expect it to go to court.

"Then extrapolate that this is surely going on in every major city in America."

This indeed is a HUGE PROBLEM.

Looks like it to me. A true party hack who will break any law necessary to keep Rats in office. People like her both infuriate me, and frankly, frighten me more than some propagandist like Moore or Franken or screwy politicians like Kerry. We've had many of them and survived them all. But our system only works if it remains open and honest. Once corruption reaches a certain level, it will collapse into anarchy followed by dictatorship.

People who would cheat and pervert the election process are the lowest form of scum possible. They are the deadly enemy to people on both sides of the political divide who believe in representative government, and should be treated as such regardless of party affiliation.

The right to vote is sacred. Anyone who cheats at the process denies other their rightful say. IMHO, that is the ultimate societal sin.

Yes, Wisconsin has had it this way for quite some time. I think they started it back in the 70's, but don't quote me. There's a registration table at the polling place. You stop there, show them some ID, including a utility bill & they register you on the spot.

When I first heard other states debating motor voter it baffled me. When you've registered at your new polling place after you've moved for decades, "easing" registration by allowing registration when applying for a driver license sounded strange & not exactly easier than I was used to doing. lol

I have to agree with everything you said. They are the enemies of democracy.

Thanks for that. It really fleshes out the story. Whole lot of chicanery going on there.
