Imagine the veep debate!
No not really. In my entire years of Veep debates Lloyd Besten line is the only thing I can remember. I doubt that the Cheney v whoever will be remembered by anyone either.
like it matters ?!?!?!
Is Edwards divorced? Are the case records sealed?
The veep choice is meaningless. The problem is their #1 on the ticket, not the #2.
I think he'll pick hillary.
He doesn't have any women in power in his campaign, I don't think. He's as weak on gender issues as he is on minorities. hillary would solve that problem.
Rep. Jane Harmon of CA? Ranking
Dem on the House Intel Committee,
I believe.
See #28
Oh. Wait. She won't do it. Hmm. But when you think about it, don't you suspect he'd like to snare a Republican? Maybe that's what the McCain courtship was all about. Kerry is dreaming of a turncoat Republican to boost his ratings. Wonder if, decades from now, we'll be reading about the Kerry overtures in Colin Powell's memoirs?
Quel dommage! Republicans are so hard to seduce!
I don't really know when the typical time is, but every election is different. In this case, Kerry needs to define himself, and there are no apparent reason why this decision should be particularly difficult. We were hearing months ago that Kerry should decide soon. For example, I found the following news story from April 5, when Nancy Pelosi was saying Kerry needed to pick someone by May 1. Pelosi is certainly no pro-Bush pundant. But she was saying that if Kerry didn't pick someone, he would have to spare with Cheney in the press, which proved prophetic. (Picking th Republican McCain as his first choice, and being jilted didn't help Kerry's image either.
The following story is excerptedd from ABC News:
Pelosi: Kerry Must Tap Running Mate Soon
UPDATED - Saturday April 03, 2004 7:49pm Washington (AP) - House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has some advice for presumptive Democratic nominee John Kerry (website - news - bio) : Pick a running mate - sooner rather than later. The California Democrat suggested that Kerry make May 1 his deadline for deciding on a vice presidential candidate, well before the party's national convention in Boston in late July. "It's very important to have another person on the field who is part of the presidential ticket," Pelosi told a round-table meeting of reporters Friday. "I don't want to see John Kerry debating with Dick Cheney in the press, I don't want to see him debating down. I want him to be debating the president of the United States." Pelosi said she shared her views on timing last month with Jim Johnson, who is heading Kerry's vice presidential search. "I think that it would be important to have a nominee by May 1," Pelosi said. Kerry's campaign has been vague about a timetable for the decision.
PICK GEPHARDT! PICK GEPHARDT! PRETTY PLEASE?
If he's smart he'll pick Lieberman. Best he can do. No matter. It still isn't smart enough.
I'm from Missouri, and that's why I said in post 32:
"PICK GEPHARDT! PICK GEPHARDT! PRETTY PLEASE?"
It'll be Al Gore.
